  1. Hi Ollie: thanks for your reply. I'd be very happy to have a chat. You can get in touch through our website at Timberyard.co.uk: sustainable locally grown timber for sale in London. Speak soon, Jeff
  2. We're looking for new team members to join our south London-based urban milling venture, Timberyard.co.uk. We produce quality sawn hardwoods from trees felled in and around London that would otherwise be destroyed, air-dry them in our Dulwich premises and sell them to cabinetmakers and joiners. Ideally you'll be a qualified chainsaw operator who can work with us on our Alaskan mill, but if you can bring your own milling equipment into the group then so much the better. The work takes place at the felling site, so we have to transport the boards to the yard and stack them there. Jobs are occasional - more frequent during the autumn and winter - so it's very much a part-time occupation. But every member gets a share of the income from selling the timber we mill. You can see what we do at Timberyard.co.uk: sustainable locally grown timber for sale in London. If you're interested, click on the CONTACT tab and drop us an email. Thanks, Jeff Segal, Paul Shrubshall, Rod Sazio and Angus Hanton Timberyard.co.uk
  3. I'm looking for a good, reliable metal detector to check butts for nails and shrapnel before milling. Has anyone got any recommendations for brands and models? Thanks, Jeff Segal
  4. I'm a cabinetmaker working in London and I've got a client who's felling an oak later this month in north London and wants the timber milled, air-dried and made into furniture. The felling, drying, storage and cabinetmaking is all taken care of, but we do need to find someone with a mobile mill willing to work on the site. The clean trunk looks about 4 metres long and the diameter is around 1 metre. I'd like to maximise the amount of quarter-sawn material produced, so I'd certainly consider a Lucas mill. There's limited access to the site, and the milling contractor will need to have public liability insurance and provide a method statement. The client could help out with producing the statement if necessary. I'd be happy to give more details to anyone who's interested. You can contact me at [email protected]. Thanks Jeff Segal www.jeffsegalworkshop.co.uk
