  1. Only measures 6.5" where it is round. The rectangular restriction is roughly 4x3". Going to chop into chimney Brest in lounge where it appears from below to open up again. If it does then will be able to get a 6" flexi down.

  2. Delivered 2 bulk bags Saturday. Good full bags majority ash which has been split for 2 years. Good quality product. Bloke saw bags on trailer and commented it lookeda good load. Tipped them on his drive, again commented how much was there! Sunday I get a phone call from him complaining that the load didn't fill his store! Said I was too expensive! Nearly told him I'd come and remove the load but figured he's the first to comment negatively out of 2 years and several hundred loads! Some people just want a lot for nothing!

  3. There was a glow worm gas fired back boiler fitted. The roof had a stack which stood 2 feet above the ridge. Seems odd as other houses all have different pipe even though they are the same age and style! I think I will get someone in to look as Im no expert! Definitely looks to be the same construction as far up as I can see and from loft it looks the same. Would be perfect if it was suitable. How do you sweep them? Do you need an access hole?

  4. Right peeps! We have had the back boiler removed today. In the recess is what appears to be a clay prefabricated type liner arrangement. There was a short length of flexi pipe linking the boiler to the hole inside the liner. Where the hole starts it is roughly 6" but approx 2 feet up it appears to narrow to an opening roughly 6" by 4". In the loft there was a link pipe made of Selkirk pipe. My question is, does this sound suitable for wood burner? There is a draw which plumber tested with a smoke stick, said it wasn't overly strong but enough. There is no way we will fit a liner inside this arrangement. Any info much appreciated.

  5. eBay advert Is by far the best I have found! Costs 90p for 10 days and always get a couple of orders! Local paper is ok but as already mentioned many calls are just after prices and only a handfull ring back for orders. Stick to your guns and don't give your product away. There's a lot of rubbish being sold as logs this year, people will catch on eventually!

  6. I have lost a couple of sales lately for this very reason! I fill the bulk bags up, pick them up by the loops then fill again, finally filling again when on trailer. This is a good load of wood but I still struggle when people say they can get more for less! My loads are 90% ash aswell so I refuse to give it away. New customers always comment how much more they get from me than previous suppliers though. People need educating!

  7. Used the new saw today to ring up a load of cord. Upto about 16" diameter. Calibrated the saw before using it as it's had 5 tanks through it. I cut enough rings to make up 10 bulk bags on 2 tanks of fuel! The thing is amazing, no bogging pulled hard and didn't let up the whole time. I don't feel like I have used a saw at all whereas the ms230 I had let you know you had! The mrs was happy also as she now has 3 large wheel barrows of saw dust for the stables!

  8. Stobart biomass have inspections. Be safe and get them done. By rights forestry and ag don't even need an mot! Very grey area! One area may say ok, another may not. If you go the proper route should you get pulled and a defect found at least the vehicle examiner will have maintenance records to look at. Will show willing on your part.

  9. Nice one! Will use the buying bog roll after taking a dump one in future conversations if I may!! Totally agree, why start buying wood when it turns cold? Surely you would make sure you had plenty so you could stack them in your shorts during the glorious summer months!

  10. Saw still improving! Cut twice the quantity of wood yesterday as my old ms230. I haven't needed to clean it yet as it stays so clean. Dust is blown away from the saw body. Getting more powerfull every time it's used so very impressed so far. Only thing I was wondering is whether it's possible to run a 3/8 chain as I've got some from previous saw.

  11. Try changing the fuel filter! Nissan couldn't cure our 08 plate. Went in 6 times for cutting out and poor running. In the end I went over and changed the filter in front of there showroom. Amazingly it cured it. Nissan backup is very poor. Ours has had several issues that I've needed to get angry over to get sorted. Won't be buying again. Defenders all the way!!

  12. The landy factory will show how defenders are built! All models are built on an automated line, very hi tec. Defender is built by Paul and Keith with an assortment of wooden blocks, soft mallets and wedges! Used to dread the jobcard which merely said "investigate water leak"!!! Still the best 4x4xfar!!!
