  1. Probably pay better up there! I'm surprised you got nothing from Hi-line. They got a lot of work on in Cornwall. Mabe it depends on who you ask. Silvanus are looking to do more domestic work in cornwall. Not a bad company to work for but don't pay as much as Hi-line. They are part of glendale which dose have its benefits but means set wages for everyone. I did a months trial when i started!! Just dont break anything or anyone!
  2. Just need the some trees down here and we are sorted!
  3. Thanks Ben. I havnt lived in Cornwall long so am not very well known yet. Good to know theres guys out there ready and willing though. I have needed occasional help for small jobs in the past so if anything comes along i will let you know. If your stuck for work and can drive why not ask one of the larger company's. They often take on people with basic tickets and then train them up. If you already got 39 then even better. Probably power line work mind you but its regular and never ending.
  4. Thanks a lot. All good advice. I learnt the hard way about personal accident insurance a while ago! Im going to wait and see how much work i find in the area then take it from there. Be good to mix things up and re-kindle my passion for the work. After browsing through this wonderful forum i have re-learnt why i got into tree work in the first place!
  5. Thanks. Good reply. Its definitely a route im thinking of going down if i find the work easy and regularly. Dont know why ive spent years thinking i would have to employ someone to go it alone. Thanks for the update
  6. Thanks Steve. So being freelance do you just offer your services to other businesses opposed to taking on your own work? Do you need your own insurance to do this or are you covered by who you work for? Sorry if this is common knowledge, everyone has to learn somewhere!
  7. Thanks for your reply tommer. I have sent my number. Call any time. Is it reasonable to say that it is possible to work for different company's/people as an individual on a self employed basis if i had insurance etc? I mean to fill in for sick days, extra hand for big jobs or even to be available on call. Do company's have a demand for this? and dose anyone do anything similar and make a living out of it. I suppose you would call it being freelance. I ask because i have always been employed but am now in a position to look at other options. Im probably a little naive to the world of business but do know you cant climb alone which complicates going self-employed, hence my question.
  8. Im an experienced climber, mainly utility work throughout Devon and Cornwall but done all sorts within the industry over the years. Im looking for either full time or part-time work in Cornwall (not utility! unless the offer is amazing). Have everything i need to start straight away.
