  1. I stripped & got my tw150 powder coated a year or so ago , didn't do the fly wheel housing or chassis the weren't that bad , £300-£400 I should guess now .. then sticker set .. not too hard to strip .. we where doing the bearing /rotor & anvils so your half way there doing them :)

  2. Hi John, that feedback was given to Ben and Noddy to feed through to the research they're undertaking. Thereafter it will feed through into the production of the industry technical guide for tree access and descent (hopefully due out by end 2017.)

Cheers, and thank you for the valuable feedback,

    Paul

Thanks , great show & Westonbirt is a great place 👍, did the new skywalk & checked out some great trees ...

  3. Hi Paul

Apologies for not saying hello on Friday, but you were a busy man.

I thought the layout was much improved, the pathway around the site helped with orientation and getting around.

Having the climbing comp kinda in the middle was a good idea.

The barn was a comfy venue for the SRT presentation.

Plenty to see and chat about.

ATF demo site was well manned and delivered.

Food and drink were aplenty and reasonable.

Good effort all round, well done.

    .

I only got to the show @ 11am Friday so missed the SRT talk , I filled in the form concerning SRT rope & anchor choices last time I was wondering what conclusions they had come to & what the industry had come to regarding SRT use within the industry?? Thanks john

  4. Our 6 ton iveco is an excellent arb truck (the 3.5ton ones not so). Really we should all stop using the 3.5 tonners for most domestic arb.

The o licence I don't see as a major issue (but we have a yard), the regular independent inspections add a bit to the cost but ensure the truck in good order. The biggest issue to me is the drivers licence as C1+E required.

In the grand scheme £1500 + 4 or 5 days training doesn't seem much, but as an employer training staff who then might leave it adds up. Also if your driver leaves you then have a struggle to replace them.

Owner operator I think its a no brainer..

    But you still need 2..

    Do Iveco do a single cab 65/18 , ?

  5. Level playing field ?? Your kidding yourselves.. my local council uses two contractors both using mog's running ag & red diesel for tree work ,

A major construction firm I quote for I've been passed over on 3 job in last 6 months to a farmer tree crew , tractors coming 50 miles + doing tree work , red diesel/ ag Reg ... this is the reality of what we have to complete against ...
