i did mine as few months back and only choked my saftey line when doing the change overs for a pole rescue, as far as i know when spiking you dont have to choke your saftey line you just need to take it up with you. hope this helps Ollie

dont need gloves, but if you cut yourself when working then he/she can fail you,, so you could just wear normal work gloves.

thanks fellas lots to think about!!!

at the moment I tow chip in a trailer behind my 90 due to its 3.5 tonn weight limit, however this presents the problem of having to take another landy towing a chipper. more fuel cost etc!! for a while i've been thinking of getting a landy tipper, but my dad is adiment they can't actually carry much weight does anyone know the right figure that they can leagaly carry obvs i'm aware that they can carry much more than vosa want and that the carrying weight will varry on the body weight but a figure would be good non the less??
Thanks

Looking at getting some new rope?
I tend to alternate between using both ends with a lanyard and the simple prussik for my friction hitch looking to change to the vt soon, but cant make my mind up between Imori, xtc or the new england tachyon all with the spliced eye. any opinoins much appricated??
Thanks Ollie
i meant the new england ultra vee not the tachyon.

I've always found them fine to climb...anchored into branches the size of my wrist etc. But as the other guys say look at the tree thoroughly and check your points!
Hope this helps

if its a tipper it doesn't matter about the weight for a licence because your not towing the weight. someone correct me if im wrong but thats how I understand it.

you can more than the 750kg allowed on a land rover as long as the trailer has a plated weight. minus the maximum gross weight of the trailer of the land rovers towing capacity of 3500kg and that gives you what your allowed to tow without a pre 97 licence
