  5. Yeh thanks guys, Spons is now in the bin, they must have messed up the unit rate for pedestrian mowing. After doing an evenings worth of spreadsheet calculations, it seems to be more realistic at £15/100m2. Well thats what im going for any way.
  6. Im looking at pricing some work up for a local housing agency. So far as i can tell Spon's list the price for mowing not collecting with a pedestrian mower at £1/100m2. Somehow im not sure if I could do it for that. Its a call out contract so I might only get one or two gardens now and again. A 10m x 30m garden would be cut for £3 am I missing something? Cheers for any comments good or bad, I dont mind if anyone calls me a numpty if Ive done the sums wrong or anything like that!
  7. I'm not doubting what you can do with green uncontaminated waste. I think the point is that it is classed as a quarantine pest, maybe open fires on site are not considered an adequate method of destruction.
  8. Horticulture Week 8/06/12 According to Derek McCann of FERA. 'The legal requirement is for destruction. That means taking them out of the ground, chopping up, double-bagging and taking to landfill. Burning could fall foul of Environment Agency regulations.' I suppose he said could fall foul of EA regs, but he seems to be pretty specific.
  9. I read somewhere that the customers that bought these 1-1.5m trees have been contacted and told to destroy them. Because the Environment Agency wont let you burn them, they have to cut them into sections and double bag them and throw them into landfill. Mmm plastic and contaminated cuttings going to landfill....sensible!
  10. My Spons is SMM7 but older 2008, it only has pricing for 1m spot circle over 100m2 in Minor Works section. This must have been added later or I havent searched it that well. My brother used to work on editing the construction one. Everytime I mention Spons he laughs and says at those rates nobody would get any work!
  11. And yes it does have a coffee cup holder built in on the dash board. The rates in Spons are well above what we are getting unfortunately. Haha, my new transit has 4 coffee cup holders but only 3 seats...I cant work that out?? Thanks for the info Gareth, I think I know what im doing on this one now! Is your Spons the landscaping and external works version?
  12. Sounds good doesn't it. I wonder if the quads have got coffee cup holders and heated seats as well? That Spons figure works out at 8p per metre, does that sound reasonable to you or too high?
  13. Hi Gareth Thanks for that, is that Spons external works and landscape price book? Also I assume thats a single side rate(If theres such a thing as that)? I have worked out with a knapsac we can do it for 4p/metre. Its all just small scale village stuff. No streets more than a couple of hundred metres. Please bear with me on this and I hope no offence is taken at my stupidity, but I just want to get it clear in my head. Cheers Nick
  14. Thanks guys, I always feel a lemon on these pricing things, but here goes. Ive worked it out for 100m pathway and kerbing (which they asked for). Based on hourly labour rate £22.50 and 5 min refill time per 100m labour including refilling £3.20 Glyphosate 80p Total £4.00 + vat per 100m single side of carraigeway Am I in the ballpark?
