  1. Im going on saturday, my mrs is obsessed with buying up the 'cheap' plants at the end of the show (forget the £17 to get in) bought 4 nice size roses in nice pots last year for £10 and loads of other bits so bargains to be had! one thing with saturday tho alot of the livestock are gone anyone else notice/bothered by that?

  2. Hi, im looking to buy a toyota hilux! around the year 2000 but newer the better less than 100,000 miles for under 4K. Simple or so you would think! (well I did) im looking at the following websites: autotrader, ebay, difflock, pistonheads and my local gumtree and trade-it. Im willing to travel to see one but within reason say 75 miles from bristol. I also have a friend at the local manheim auction keeping an eye out for me.

I was just wondering does anyone else have any further suggestions of where you may look to find this elusive beast??

    cheers

  3. Hi mate, did you manage to get a days work for this day? im currently juggling traing (NPTC certs) with a full time office job just interested to know if there is much demand for qualified but not nessecarily experienced guys in the bristol area for the odd day when i can get off work -cheers

  4. My story (the short version i promise) in 2006 i finished a business studies degree in business studies and left ready to take on the business world and be the next alan sugar! after four years of working in finance my brain has turned to much ive become a much more boring person and MY GOD i want to get to being an ARB so bad i talk about chippers and trees in my sleep!! I worked with my uncle growing up (now retired) as a ARB labourer and loved it getting £40 a day but never considering it as a viable career.

So... Im working full time for a finance company in Bristol as i need to pay the bills etc. Through persistence and phone calls I have met a tree surgeon my age who is just the type of guy i would love to work for, my age and shares my working and life ethics. On holidays from work he has offered to let me work for him but heres the crux: FOR FREE ive done two days and REALLY loved it i have my CS30/31 booked and slowly collecting the required equiptment. I say yeah work for free but only if its doing you good experience wise and meeting contacts wise but only if your situation allows it. Id like to ask what does everyone think a guy (me) would be worth a day with saw and ppe and truck??? cheers:001_smile:

  5. thanks for the replies guys, the press was £200 delivered and we should get it this week. We have some expeimenting to do to see how they burn on our fires/workshop wood burners so we can make up ou minds how they do. We have a heated workshop to dry them out in so that should be ok but we have a moisture probe to check hourly progress on that front (scientific i know) we are generally (if they are any good) give them to elderly people in our area to do our bit

  6. Hi everyone, a friend of mine and me have started a little side venture that may be a little fun. We have bought a "freeheat junior press" basically you mulch up wet paper and squeeze it in a press to make eco friendly bricks to burn. Anyone else ever tried this any luck selling them/using them?

  7. Hi to everyone this is my first time posting on here and any help would be appreciated! I want to take my NPTC CS30/31 certificates along side working so i can slowly (hopefully not too slowly) gain experience and build up my equiptment.

Ive been checking out places to take the NPTC certs ideally near as possible to where I live in North Bristol/south glos and would love to hear any reccomendations of centres from anyone!

    Cheers

    Joe
