Sorry for the private message but I wanted to contact people actually involved in mobile milling. I run a small forestry contracting business in Oxfordshire and I am thinking of purchasing a mobile sawmill. The yard where I currently rent space is being developed into a number of small units for wood based businesses (timber framers, carpenters, furniture makers etc.) so there would potentially be a ready market for sawn timber. I have the means to fell, extract and transport timber but not to convert it.

I confess to knowing little about milling but I wonder, if you were purchasing a new bandsaw mill, what makes and models would you consider? Wood-mizer seem to have the biggest market share but I have heard poor reports about customer service and after-sales. What extra features are worth having and which are gimmicks? I would need it to be mobile but it may spend much of its time set up in the yard.

I would really appreciate any advice you could give. Many thanks
