Yea spark is fine, I'll check the fuel pump side of the carb for fuel as you suggest when I strip it.
Thanks for the reply

Afternoon,
I've been playing around with a non-runner saw lately and this Husky 41 has me stumped.
Some history;
I fitted a new cylinder and piston (circlip had come free from the gudgeon and wrecked them) and new carb diaphragms. Its got good compression at 160psi. The fuel lines are leak free and fuel passes through the fuel line under gravity on its own no bother.
I'm going to strip and rebuild the carb again and blast it clean with proper carb cleaner this time rather than just blowing the jets out with air.
One thing that I would like advice on is is it normal for a fuel tank on a saw to build up pressure in such a way that it makes the fuel cap difficult to remove, I think a vacuum is being created in the tank which I assume means it's not breathing and so stopping the saw running.
Is there a sure fire way of testing the tank breather, which incidentally seems to be a simple non-removable, pressed in the plastic, brass membrane on these saws......
Hope this makes sense, and I look forward to ideas and advice.

I'll think on and ask the lads that won them at the APF if they are any good, mind you theirs are pre production saws apparently.

I've sorted 'the leak', I'm not even going to detail what it was to save me looking a complete fool!
I'll bear the soldering iron trick in mind if I ever come across a leaky saw, thanks.

Ash, unfortunately there was someone put up a similar thread a few weeks back and was expecting such saws for free. I think you got tarred with the same brush, but i got a feeling you werent the same guy.
Perhaps you ought to let us know if you are say a collector, or intend selling on, or using repaired saws yourself.
With the value of saws recently you may find it hard to get much in the way of cheap, repairable stuff, especially in the pro ranges so perhaps you could give an idea what sort of cash you are willing to pay and postage arrangements. It may help.
Since posting the thread I've already got my hands on 3 saws, another lad is after selling 3 more to me and that is way beyond what I was expecting as a response. I thought I'd be waiting weeks for just one saw but seems there is plenty of non-runners lying around in peoples workshops, garages and so on.
I am not a collector or trader, I intend on keeping a couple of the ones I've got hold of for myself, if I can get the others going then they will probably get sold as I've no use for 6 saws! I'm just having a play about with them really, I like to pull things to bits to see what makes them tick.
Whats the score with the value of used saws, I've seen non-runner 357xp's and the like go for £200?!?!
Thanks for everyones responses, I'm not after any more saws for now.

Seems to have caused a little stir this post.
Sorry should have been more clear, I'm not after freebies, I'm expecting to pay money for the saws not be given them for free. I've not posted this request before.
apbell - I only mean I don't want to ferk about with the lower end plaggy saws, just ain't my cup of tea. Working on 260's, 361's, 044's and the like is more a pleasure as they are simply put together a bit better and made of better stuff.

As per the title, I need a replacement for my leaky tank. If you've got one let me know.
Many thanks

As per the title, anyone with a Husky 41 top/engine cover I can purchase?
Thanks

My understanding is that it doesn't matter what the brand of oil is as long as it carries the JASO FB specification it will be sound for a 50:1 mix and be as good as if not better than Stihls red stuff.

Are you confident you are using the right bar for your saw?
Its the only thing I can think of to rule out as you have said everything is clean, and working otherwise with the bars off.

Evening,
I'm looking for knackered saws anyone wants rid of, must be a professional saw, anything considered from the likes of 024's 026's MS260's, Husky 346XP's and so on. Must be a complete saw with bar and chain unless your practically giving it away.
I just want something to play with really, to learn how to strip and rebuild engines and hopefully end up with a useful machine at the end of it.
Many thanks

Thanks for that Angus, I will cast an eye over the saw I have and see what it needs and drop you a message in the near future.

Evening,
Does anybody know if parts are still available for the 011av, particulary a carb service kit and air filter.
Many thanks

Morning,
I have a nice Husky jacket for sale. Its the swanky, water resistant stretch fabric type one, with reinforcement on the sleeves akin to the stuff on the shin of hiflex trousers.
Other stuff includes;
Hidden drawcord to pull it in around the midriff
Mobile phone pocket within the zipped chest pocket so your phone is doubly protected
Soft corduroy around the collar
Elasticated mesh inner sleeves to hold onto chainsaw gloves etc
Treated fabric providing water resistance
Vented back section
Upper pockets also work as vents when open, lower pockets are very big.
I'm 6' 1" and just under 15 stone, I don't know what chest I am but you can see how it fits from the pictures, Husky reckon it fits up to 48" chest an I'm no where near that big. It's got the slightest bit of muck on it, no rips or nicks.
£100 posted anyone, I'm selling it to fund the purchase of some winter tyres, otherwise I'd be keeping it.

Still for sale, putting them on eBay now.

Replied to PM.
Trousers are still for sale - £100 anyone?
-
The marks on the back are bits of sap off a big lump of pine.

Evening all,
I've got a pair of the Husky Technical chainsaw trousers for sale. Size Large, about 4 days light use, in very clean condition, unfortunately one of the braces buttons has gone walkies. Suitable for 34 - 36inch waist, may even go to a 38 inch as they seem quite generous (I'm a 35inch waist and there seems to be a good bit of room in them compared to other 36inch trousers I have.
I'm not sure what they are worth, I'd like £110 for them. Will swap for size 10.5 Haix trekkers or protectors that are in as new or new condition.
I will add pictures tomorrow.
Thanks
Ash
Pressure build up in Husky fuel tank on non runner saw help.

Yea it builds up a strong vacuum with fuel in the tank.
Can anyone suggest away of pressure testing the fuel tank without buying expensive test kit, I assume emptying the tank and sucking on the filler hole will tell me if the tank vent is blocked?
