  1. Hi All Im after some part time work in Leicestershire/Northamptonshire area. 1 or 2 days a week would be perfect but on a regular almost guaranteed basis. I have emailed a few Tree companies in the area but had no luck. I have CS30 and CS31 and around 2 years experience, but I have been out of the game since 2010 and I am now looking to ressurect my career as a groundsman by completing more certificates and some distance learning course to help my progress in my development. Any advice or help is appreciated.
  2. Its terrible mate, and I knew her. But good to see people still donating.
  3. I asked the same question only last week on here. Im 36 and looking to start a career (again) in it, I did my certs back in 2008 and I did it for around 18+ Months but I had to leave due to the pay (£70-£80 daily) being particular low, especially when you have a family. But I did love it VERY much, and better to be happy in work then unhappy. You only get one life buddy, so crack on and make the most of it.
  4. Thanks for all the advice guys, heck it, why not go for it.
  5. Im after some advice whether you think im to old or not to start a career as an Arborist? Im 36, 37 this year and I completed my CS30/31 back in 2008. I worked on the trees for around 2 years but due to the wages not being that great (£70 Daily) I couldn't survive and had to do something else. I really miss the work and I really want to get back in to it, Im looking in to doing some other course to help me on my way, like CS32, CS40 and a couple of day courses, Basic Tree Survey, Report Writing and Tree Inspection and maybe some kind of distance learning course. Im in a position where I could buy a pick-up, chainsaw and a few basic tools etc . Im thinking I could do a couple of days a week as a subby to get some experience plus do a little on my own. I also have a small yard with a garage where I could also do a bit of firewood. Please advise and give me your opinion as I feel im caught between a rock and hard place.
  6. Hi folks, Im after a timber supplier so as I can start seasoning some firewood but I need a supplier to get me started. Suppliers either from Leicestershire or Northamptonshire would be close to me?
  7. This is so true, I found it VERY difficult to get in to this game because of the low wages. I did it for around 2 years and found I could not survive on the income so I came out of it about 2 1/2 years ago but I am missing it very much and looking to get in to it again.
  8. Very good set-up Tom. Thanks for all of your advice guys, its appreciated.
  9. Well I have some spare land and a large garage, think I may just go for it. What could go wrong ha ha.
  10. Is that a bad way of doing it? Do you have any links to where I could get a price from?
  11. Im mortgage free myself and i have some land where i can store the logs. When would be the time to start selling the logs? where could I get hold of timber to log and sell on?
  12. As a one man band or would it need to be a big set-up? Who would buy in the summer months?
  13. Do you believe it is possible to make a year round living out of just selling firewood?
  14. Im looking for one or maybe even two days a week work to get some experience in Logging, happy to work weekends when available. Im 36, own PPE, own vehicle and live on the border of Leicestershire & Northamptonshire, happy to travel if worth my while. I have CS30 & CS31, not been on the saw for about 2 years. Any help regarding this will be appreciated, thank you. Regards, Lee
