Cheers Mates,

My usual scenario for my risk assessments is to cover individual jobs that would take a day to complete with the same personnel, or to cover a specific job that would take longer, say over a few days possibility a week, and when the works are started i normally do not leave to do other work until it is finished. I'm due to start a job where there will be different personnel coming and going on different days and I might be leaving site to do other works and returning on different days.
Never had to consider this for RA be for, any advice would be appreciated.
thanks,

Tim was based in the Scottish Boarders. Never met him personally, he was very ill when i got into furniture. Met his wife Maggie few times doing exhibitions, they still make furniture trading i think as the workshop of Tim Stead. His business partner stills runs the wood school furniture business, which i think Tim was founder and partner.
The chap that got me into furniture I'm sure copied (sorry was influenced with buy their work)

looking to purchase vented log bags. Been quoted £5.75 + vat per bag delivered, thought this was bit pricey? as I'm looking for about 500. Understand there are different sizes 1m3 or 0.75m3 doesn't really matter to me as long as reasonably priced. Anybody have any info and details of suppliers.

should have bought mine! you missed a good TW150 there

I used a husqvarna 372 with 24" bar for smaller diameter logs and husqvarna 3120 with 42" bar on larger logs. I only ever used standard chains on the mills, if I kept them sharp I had no probs. Finish on the boards were a bit rough on some of the harder woods but all the finished timber went through thicknesser so wasn't much of prob for me. I also used a Sperber double slaber mill with a 3120 on each end. Only prob, I had to modify the oiling holes on the double ended bar to fit husqvarna. Serious bit of kit a lot easer on you, but good bit more expensive, also you have to have another body to help you. I found I had more of a market for selling good quality wider boards as most of the mobile mills can only mill about 22" through and through so the double slaber paid for itself quickly

I used an alaskan mill a lot in my early days of milling and furniture making.
With practice i managed to mill some fantastic boards from timber i couldn't get to roadside. Its not easy and I'm sure my back has never recovered. I have attached some Pict's of things i have made from timber i milled with alaskan mill. First time i have tried to attach images so apologies if i have not done it right, bit to technical for me.

When i bought a new little david i had a few near misses with kick back to the jaw, on the first few stumps.Since then i have ground hundreds of stumps with it and never had as much as a scratch even from flying debris. A little david with the gaurd on is fairly restricted to what it can do. However if you remove the gaurd and are determined or daft enough then you can get the little david to grind any stump any where, even where mountain goats would struggle to walk. BUT ALWAYS keep your wits about you and watch your toes all the time kos you wont get a second chance with it.

have pictures of little david send email to me and I will bounce it back with pictures

Edd thorman was his name so sounds like this is the man, cheers

did you manage to buy grinder? if not I have a little david I bought new and I stay in falkirk. I Would sell for £950. I replaced with carlton 2000sp. Little david has never let me down and still looks fairly good with origional paint. Great machine for access or grinding on embankments. Got to watch your jaw for kick back and keep a eye on your toes.

I bought a hornet grinder last year to attach to a 2.7 ton volvo digger.
Machine looked the part but didnt work well with small digger.
The company didnt take payment for it and took the grinder back to modify the disign. Since they I have not herd from them and I have lost contact details.
Interested to hear from anyone if they have purchased a grinder like this to fit to a mini digger and if it dose the job as I would still like to get one.

Sorry David, must have missed it. Yes your right, worlds tallest hedge. I worked on it about 22 years ago, cant remember the exact year. It gets trimmed every ten years if funds permit I think. All done from cherry picker and hand loppers. I'm sure it took about ten weeks to complete.
