If you're looking for a place you can be an idiot there's plenty other sites. We have freedom of speech at arbtalk already, we just don't tolerate fools. Thanks
With responses like this it's a wonder people use this site, you put a suggestion and get a load of crap back. Standard gARBtalk, almost expect a negative response from any post you make.

A members area where you can say what ever you want without moderation, it used to be called freedom of speech

Due to a growth in business we are after a reliable, dedicated individual for 2-3 days a week self employed to start with.
It would be preferable to have a minimum of cs30-31-38 also chipper and stump grinder certificates would be nice but non essential.
Our company uses the very best equipment and provides an impeccable service. If you show us commitment we will help progress your development.
Pm for details or email your cvs to [email protected]

Last year we did cs41 with them, recently we did cs32 with them and this week a stump grinder course.
Just wanted to offer my experience for budding arbs, the price was good, the service was easy going but thorough and we passed. If your Essex based these IMO are the only choice.
Check them out here:

£500-800 is about right, depends on the trainer as to quality and cost is not an indicator of quality
. Make sure your comparing apples for apple

So really we are hairdressers for the trees

You are a member of the Trading Standards Scheme or Trading Standards Approved, you can't be part of Trading Standards, its a government body.
I'm sure I stated membership right above the quoted post ?.

Perennial Bio mechanical surgeon.

Also the fact that stihl products have become successively poo er. Funny thing Is there own dealers were selling to unqualified operators ms201ts. I know this for a fact as my mate brought one all they did was show him the saw.

Do stop stobarts only have those massive trucks for collecting chip, or do they have a smaller one as access is about 15ft wide off the road with a wall one side ?. Thanks chaps

What does this mean??
It means we will loose our membership if we don't offer the customer their legal rights when entering into a contract as tree frog stated very nicely.
Also that we have been shown by trading standards the rules that apply to us, which most company's don't even know about.
-
Yeah as a member of trading standard we adhere strictly to the law, customers have the right to cancel I believe up to 7 days after the written or verbal quote was agreed ( written is best ). Also you must respond to complaints within a reasonable time. The reason is pressure selling people doing on the spot sign ups, 7 days gives people an opt out.
But it's also annoying when you book work in and it could be the day before they cancel, but for us that happens so little.
If it's emergency work etc to take place within 7 days then it does not apply I believe, but I may need to fresh up on my reading

well perhaps that's because you've never used one?
When you buy it your trained how to use it & shown how to pre tension on the metal bollard with no bend in the rope at all, perhaps you've just seen photos of them? perhaps that's why when you 'saw one close up' the user couldn't show you how to? because the user wasn't there after all? neither was the device actually there in the flesh?
So terry where did you see the device 'close up' i just spoke to the uk agent who confirmed that there's none in the uk other than 1 in stroud, 1 in bristol & 1 in between? furthermore he's never shown you one of them? 1 did travel to essex for a private demo 2 weeks ago but not to your firm terry?
its a small world this industry ay?
Seams like no one has brought one because they are utter six
did I say I'd used one god talk about chat six, take your toy a stick it up your letterbox (bored of this crap now ) you went to the effort of speaking with someone haha nope none sold they six.
-
on the sw you can pre tension loads on the bollard no problem, done 100's of them
where did you see a sw close up? there's only 3 in the UK & all in gloucestershire/avon???
i dont make a habit of pooo pooing products the grcs is great but there is now a better alternative, loads & loads of sw's have been sold abroad, all the best riggers/ climbers ive worked with across Europe recommend them over the grcs but then, like me, unlike everyone i have ever heard talk the sw down i & they have used both.
I don't see how you can lift a load from it then drop it onto the drum unless you bending the rope beyond its bend radius ?.
It's not better that's just your opinion, I think it's crap that's mine. Points made end of bored much.
-
Makes sense lads, I'll revoke my hire offer lol. I know spiked there ain't nothing you can't rig big man but this tool sure makes it fecking easier
plus I feel really cool using it ha

Kim @ Danequipt buddy always has spares send next day, machines are well priced, I'm on my second 27hp on green teeth and it it's only 227kg, 27 inches in width.
Get some finance towards £6-7000 minus your deposit £2-3000 if you have the work and don't buy any 2-3 grand second hand one, they tend to be utter crap.
The hb looks nice but it's too heavy at I believe 275-300 plus kg, for me every kg counts using an iveco 3.5 ton.
But those two are the best, and IMO the danequipt is for me that bit better.

I Just putting feelers out to see what a fair rate to charge is, I will only be letting company's we are friends with use it.
The problem with Essex is to many cutters which lowers what they can charge.
-
Simple answer go pro black edition, which is now cheaper as they have the new plus model out.
I have had mine for at least a year dropped it to many times and never missed a beat, footage it so good check out my Chanel thtrees on YouTube and put it to 1080p.
The other cams are ok but there is a reason all the pros use gopros. I'm buying another the plus model so we have two cam angles
-
That's cheap! He must have several thousands pounds worth of equipment in his van, surely he can't make a living at £200 a day
I thought that, a decent subbie rigger is worth £100 and only charging £100 out for the gear is dirt cheap if your paying tax as well ?.
-
That's your opinion and worth not much
since you have no proof it does anything. I have seen it up close and I think it's crap which is my opinion.
The point I was making about a GRCS was to build a unit to hold both winch and bollard so the winch could wind onto the bollard so you could tension and block down on the same line without smashing up the winch as the bollard takes the first wrap and biggest load.
The sw does not do that lol. You can't move the tensioned line onto the fixed drum that would be impossible. You can't wind onto the drum using the winch power ?.
It's a copy of the best device already available, with a cheap modification. Now I'm not out right knocking it as someone took time to build it and that deserves and gets my respect and appreciation. I just think it is substandard to the GRCS.
-
Yeah good point actually
-
Just wondering if it might be an idea to hire one out with a arial tree rigging and rescue qualified operator ?.
-
ah, conifer hedges then? ;D
Exactly

What additions would you like to see on Arbtalk

It really was a genuine request, a place to chat freely, if you assume it's a petty dig then that's your mind thinking in that way..petty.
I was not stating MY posts, in fact MANY people posts receive undue comments just like I have demonstrated here.
Don't ask for opinions then slate them when they are given. And as for the band wagon take a long walk into a chipper, really what a bunch of hill billies.
Any way, clearly wasting my time talking to the less minded.
