  1. Hi all

I am a freelance climber based in Plymouth but willing to travel to infinity and beyond (well within reason) for the right price. I have been climbing for around 7 years now with quite a variety of experience including Felling in plantations, working from MEWPs, using Cranes for dismantling and many other aspects of our industry. I am more than capable at reducing and will take on anything that is thrown at me and complete it safely and efficiently. I was also a teaching assistant at capel manor college.

    Qualifications:

Cs 30,31,38,39, woodchipper, first aid at work, IPAF MEWP ticket, numerous city and guilds, btec and nptc courses up to Level 3 cert in Arb.

So if your in a need for a climber whether it be for 1 day or for 1 month I am your man.

No surprise to me, I knew you had the skills, just needed the hours in:thumbup1:

    youll go far kiddo:biggrin:

  6. Weighs next to nothing, I think it's about half the weight of a 200.

    Ah awesome that's brilliant!

Why get a 150? It's going to be gutless. The 201 I have just bought is an absolute peach. If your not strong enough to carry a 201 on your belt or use it all day well....

It's not about being strong enough it's about staying lightweight and cutting down on fatigue, it's not just for the day it's the week, months, years! Think about reductions when where you don't need tonnes of power for cutting through large diameter wood.

  7. Just like tensioning an electric power line for trains, except they have big weights for tensioning.( from what I have seen )

Looks like you are having fun, and getting some good experience :thumbup1:

Yeah it's easy just pull the line and tighten the prussik until you can't get it any tighter by hand! That way as well you can't over tighten it!!

Yeah it's brilliant I'm really enjoying it! And that is my main goal for this job is to gain experience and then when it comes to taking on a bigger contract I know what I'm doing!

  8. How does he get the "Skyline" tight without breaking it?

The rope is tied off at one end and then through a pulley or jean on the top tree and then a pulleys and prussik at the base of the tree tension it and tight the prussik.

Also it means it's easy to lower the line down if necessary!

  9. Looks a interesting job , be worth getting someone else in with a crane or skidder if doing the whole block .

Yeah it's great just slow progress due to manual handling everything as we only have saws, a 4x4 and trailer.

You normally pay!!! For the standing timber!

Yeah I was lucky really as its a reasonably small plot it wasn't feasible to pay for the standing timber but it also means I can take my time doing the job!

  10. Its a burr, and no not really worth anything, if i had it id cut the burr off and make a bowl or something from it,but i wouldnt buy it. If you had a bandsaw you could rough plank it and you may get a small nice piece but probably not too special.
