  3. I am looking to update my tickets i would like to get cs 32(or could be 33 depends on which website i have looked on but it is for large trees) and 34, and also cs 39,40,41. Does anyone know of any trainers and assesors in the south west? i did my original tickets a few years ago at dartington tech but i think they are long gone. many thanks liam
  4. i have a few tons of alder which was felled last march and has been stacked in full tree lengths, do you think it would still be ok to burn next season or should i get rid this season?
  5. for all of you out there that still split logs with an axe check out this clip. i have been splitting with a tyre for a while now,it is so much faster and energy efficent, i haven't gone so far as a rotating block yet, the axe he is using looks good but i'm not sure how it would handle a knarly bit of oak, i think it was designed for softwood and birch. 6. Hi, as the title suggest i need a timber trailer for a day to move some firewood, it is mainly alder but with a bit of ash, i have dragged it all out into a field (was in a bog so pulled it out with a digger managed to keep it fairly clean!) not too sure on volume but there are about 130 trees between 25-40 ft long with a base diameter of between 6-18 inches. looking for someone to come in and take it out across 2 fields then about 4 miles on the road or just out of the field whichever is easier. i am willing to pay or you could take wood as payment the field is near hemyock.i have done a bit of forwarder driving in the past so could self drive. many thanks liam

    Cheap chains!

Just wondering if anyone out there has brought any cheap chains off e-bay? i got 2 for £10 for my little ms 180 i use it alot for hedge laying so thought i would give them a try, they seemed ok, very basic design and the cutter angle was very sharp which made it quite a hand full, i squared of the cutters which made it alot smoother and they held there edge very well:thumbup:. but they both snapped within a week! they were called archer and made in oz. would be intrested to know if anyone has had a similar experiance?
  14. Thanks for the advice, does anyone know of a good insructor in the south west. i need to do my wind blown and finish my climbing tickets? thanks:thumbup1:
