  1. Do you have an pics of the stuff that was stolen? As they are slightly more unusual items they may easier to spot at sales/car boots etc

Sorry to say that is another lesson i've learn't the hard way, would have been handy for when the police turned up as they didn't have a clue about what the stuff was. In future I'll be keeping a lot more photo's.

  2. My yard in Essex broken into last night, they cut and broke through 5 locks damaged my shipping container and also the door to a lock up and stole gransfors bruks splitting maul and carving axe, Engish side axe, fuel container and also 12 traditional walking sticks mainly with antler & buffallo horn handles.

The odd thing is they let behind various power and hand tools, arc welding kit and thankfully my log splitter.

Hope that if they use the splitting maul they make a mistake because it was well honed with enough weight to do some real damage.

  3. The important thing is to knwo where the pictures are on your computer?

Don't worry about what software you are using to store and manage the pictures, as that is probably just something that communicates with your camera and give you a nive interface when veiwing the pics.

Most of the time pictures will automatically get stored in the "my pictures" or "pictures" folder on your computer.

Once you know where they are its easy.

Whne replying use the "go advanced" feature. Then as said before click the paper clip icon above the text window.

The browse for the picture you want, its easy if you know where it is! Once you find the pic click it, and browse for another if required or just click up load. Once its ready the up loader window can be closed, return to your post and submit it and it will now include the picture !

Many thanks for your advice and your spot on about where the pictures are held in the computer.I know there in there but where. I got the pictures I wanted posted onto the forum, not sure quite how but it worked. I think a little spare time trying up load pictures will pay dividends later.

    Many thanks

  4. During the Christmas period, I came across a nice peice of sweet chestnut in one of my stacks that was to good to be cut and split for future firewood, so made the following. The pattern of the grain is even better than in the pictures.

Any comments good or bad be appricated.

  5. can someone please help, I have been trying for the last hour or more to put a picture on the carving forum with no success.

Could someone tell me in very simple terms how to put photo's onto the forum. If it helps the pictures I'm trying to put on are on the saved on the software CAMEDIA.

    Many thanks

  6. First and last time we did not insist on COD. A good warning to all . I have two small children and coming up to christmas needed to scratch round for £700 to put kero in the tank for heating. Am taking this very personal I know but wont take this lying down, watch this space. The logs were seasoned beech and perfect for burning.

I initally took that customers to be honest, but a few of them are not. Learn't the hard way to take COD wether it's firewood or product.

In certain situations I ask for payment up front.

It comes back to that a few customers don't feel that they should have to pay for wood as it just sits there in large piles for a long time so it must be free.

Hope that you get your money.

  7. We put ours straight into paper bags ready for sale and store on pallets in a shed, the least ammout of time you move it the less labour more profit. Also the more you move it the more is will brake down to dust. :001_smile:

The above is 100% right, keep manual handling to a minimum.

Also there are customers out there that BBQ all year round once they know that you have it in the winter. Sold 20 bags this month

Best wishes to all for the new year

  8. I currently do firewood and charcoal and the firewood gives a far better return and also there is a larger demand. Bad summer nobody BBQ'S and your competing against cheap imports (normally bad quality).

After saying all that when I'm charcoal making either through full size kiln or through 45 gallon drums i'm also working on other projects so there is a balance.

If you are wanting to try the market on a small scale without spending serious money on a kiln the use of 45 gallon drum is great. Cost nothing and depending on type of wood and moisture content can yeld 3-5 bags each time, which I tend to have 3 on the go at a time.

    Hope that helps

  9. Sorry to say I've not been to either Belfairs or Tillingham, must find the time to visit other woodlands but its quite difficult to go to other places when your in such a nice one. Even take my springer collie cross walking there when I'm not working
