I am looking for a climber and a groundie for domestic work based in Peckham SE15, London. I have a great small business thats been working in the area for 17 years. We have fantastic domestic work, where we provide quality tree work to Dulwich and the local area with plenty of time to do the job perfectly with the correct equipment every time. We have 50% of regular clients that have been with us for over 10 years. We don't travel far for tree work, only about 1 mile radius, so not much time wasted in driving around London. Climber would need to have relevant certificates and also be able to drive ideally, ground person will need relevant certificate to operate chainsaw and chipper. Preferably someone with experience so they have knowledge of general Groundsman duties. Ideally with arial rescue ticket. We work in Dulwich, South East London. Woody Paul - Ive found the 935i an amazing machine, its just so over engineered for the job which is what we need in this game. Its all I have used for 18 years, so don't know any different to be honest. I'm not sure how much its worth, but would consider a decent offer for it ....

I am thinking of selling my 7.5t lorry and chipper as the yard I keep them in is being built on in London and I can't find a yard locally anymore as they have all been built on. The lorry is 05 Plate and done 74,000 km and has particulate filter fitted but will not meet the new emission regs in London is 2021. The chipper had a reconditioned perkins engine in 2008 and a little bit of work last year but apart from that its a great machine. Its a great combination having both together and I'm wondering where would be the best place to sell them ? I am now doing smaller tree work generally and it seems ridiculous to turn up with this rig to prune a few apple trees ! Happy to advertise on here is people think its worth it ? Hamish 07971055438

I was doing a quote for the neighbour when I looked over and saw this in the neighbours garden. They we not in, but as always with this situation its hard to give straight advise without sounding like you are wanting more work !

I used to see this at our farm in Wales, once turned back up they loose the gas and sort themselves out. I've done it a few times, poor animals look wider than they are tall with all that gas in them. Good skills.

Over the last year I seem to be seeing a lot of cherry trees that have died or are in the process of dying. I know our local authority (Southwark) are pollarding a lot of trees because of an insurance perspective, and aggressively pruning some old cherry trees which have now died, has anyone else noticed that cherry trees are suffering (I think maybe not just because of the way they have been pruned) ? On another note, I noticed yesterday that a clients cherry tree has leaf curl on the extremities of every branch. I presume it was because of a lack of water, is this correct ? Help much appreciated.

I work in South London, which has a clay sub soil. This Saturday I have seen 2 Kumquat trees with the same symptoms and also have seen one a month ago which was identical. The trees are thinning in their leaf canopy by about 20%, there are brown spots developing on the leaves and also holes too, possibly subsequent to the brown spots. I have attached some photos below. Has anyone come across this before ? I was thinking it might be due to long periods of dry and then long periods of wet weather, combined with a few very cold winters, but thats all a bit vague ! Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for your time

One of my clients has a Loquat tree in their garden in London. (Clay soils). Over the last three years the leaves have started to get brown spots and the leaf canopy is very thin. Is there anything the client can do to save the tree ? Any thoughts appreciated. Best wishes Hamish

Sorry to disappoint you folk, but it is the same tree. Any other thoughts, I thought it might be a little rare as I have never seen a fern and other leaf on same tree before ....

Can any one identify this tree ? There is two photos of the same tree, it was found growing out of a fern bought a year ago, its certainly doing well for a years growth ... Leaves and fern type needles, any thoughts ? Thank you in advance. Hamish:001_smile:

Actually I did the dismantle and a manager of GWT came down and wanted to get on TV so he did the fell of the stick. So that part of felling on the road wasn't me ! Oh and yes the roads down here are really bad, Londons not used to snow and ice with a scattering of salt !

I've been running my own business, Cut Above Tree Management Ltd. for 4 years now. We have worked on the Southwark council contract for 4 years with Gristwood and Toms, but since their move to Croydon have stopped working on their contract. References for our work are available. I'm a skilled climber, who really enjoys the problem solving of the work we carry out in London. Having sub contracted before I understand that the work available will be the tough end of the stick, but we are would you believe, very skilled at this ! We currently have a few clients of our own and would like to sub contract as well as carrying out our own work. We have a 7.5 tonne Tipper and a large vermeer 935i chipper, and are skilled enough to be able to fill it during a days pruning. I have a passion for tree climbing and am currently thinking the business can either reduce in size, or sub contract. Since my work has significantly reduced in size recently I am planning on selling my truck and chipper. Iveco 7.5 tonne tipper, 05 plate with only 40,000 km 12 Months MOT, full service history with iveco. £14,000. Also I'm selling my Vermeer 935i chipper 9" £8,950 + VAT 50 HP PERKINS DIESEL ENGINE Re-conditioned on 28/01/09 Since then it has done 150 hours Weight 1,600 kg approx.
