  7. Hi, I'm certainly no expert but I've been using a 'hobby' saw in my garden, it was a bit 'out of control' when I moved in 3 years ago, now it's totally out of control Thanks for the reply, I'll PM jonesies and ask if he would give me a list. Cheers. FH
  8. Hi, I'm planning on doing a combined CS30/31 early next year but need a bit of advice please. I'm going to get a decent pair of steel toe cap boots but wondering what I should spend on the rest of my PPE. I think I already know the answer to this question ('numpty post of the year' get-out statement) but this kit here is tat right??? CHAINSAW KIT HELMET, GLOVES BIB & BRACE TROUSERS 38W on eBay (end time 09-Sep-09 09:01:04 BST) I should be investing in expensive PPE as I only have 1 life right?? Also, what sort of saw should I get, I know a lot is down to personal preference but I'm guessing (another get-out statement) if I turn up with a 'hobby' saw like a Ryobi, Makita etc I'm gonna look a right plonker and possibly these saws might not be acceptable on the course:001_unsure: Don't get me wrong, I don't normally skimp, I've always bought the best I can afford when it comes to tools but I just need to ask these questions to put my mind at rest. Would it be worth getting a 2nd hand Stihl or Husky as the CS 30 will teach me how to maintain it or will a 2 year old one be ready for the scrap heap and I'll get no real use out of it. Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers! FH
