Yeah I see what you mean, a nice curved swan neck instead. I'm just wondering what the catch is with the price?! The next size up isn't much more expensive either

You could try Brighton compost co op at stanmer park. I haven't used them, but they're literally just on the Brighton outskirts.

Hi,ive made a couple of videos to put onto youtube, but im worried about putting songs over the videos that i dont have permission for. I've found the free songs that youtube offer, and saw that they had 'ad supported' tracks as well, but i couldnt select them from the list.
Are these tracks that you are allowed to use from itunes etc and youtube will just put ads with them
Many thanks

I looked at a horse chestnut today approx 40 ft tall. the customer is under a bit of pressure as neighbours would like the tree removed. She would like to keep it,but would be happy to pollard it if possible as a compromise. The tricky bit is, I identified guignardia leaf blotch, chestnut canker and then I also popped open a pod on the leaf, which contained a small brown larvae, which I assume could be leaf miner beetle. There is a good chance I am wrong with diagnosis and will research further but assuming I'm correct with diagnosis, how serious are each of these? The leaves currently start turning brown in May. It also has a couple of these fungus as well (link below)
Many thanks

So that the wedge grafted and became part of the tree as well? Yes that's the book, only just started it but it does look very interesting.
-
just started reading a book on grafting, and this is one of the first images. it shows a trick that fruit growers either used to, or still use to create a strong union if the boughs of a tree are going to be carrying a large amount of weight. I thought this was very clever! haven't seen it done intentionally like this before unless it was for those sculptures. twist the branches until a permanent graft forms, creating a natural brace system.

I do 3-4 days a week gardening for regulars,as that was my original training. Then I book in probably 2-3 tree jobs a month and the same for fencing. For that very reason, I can't risk just relying on the tree work as there is so much competition. There are more gardens that need looking after than there are trees that need working on. I enjoy both sides of the business then,as the pressure of looking for big jobs is off,and the money is pretty good either way.

If they can be attached with an alpine, could they be attached with a fishmans bend at the end of a line?

Am i right in assuming if a tree has completely fallen, roots lifted and no chance of uprooting, that i can clear it up with out notifying the council. No tpo as far as i am currently aware, but will check. Many thanks

I use an echo 350 tes. I've had no problems, put it through stuff bigger than the bar. I was apprehensive at first, but it's done me well for 3years. Very surprised

Northern tools do that one,not sure on price though

Powerisers look way to much fun!

Yeah they're the ones, the plasterers ones are really stable, they were ok on soft ground but i'd be nervous on paving etc. they say if you fall, try and land on your knees and sit right back onto your calves so the stilts hit first. its quite hard to see how even the ground is when you're above, but i think the trick is to be confident with your steps.
-
I got some 2nd hand stilts a couple of months ago, with the idea of using them to prune fruit trees. I was inspired by an image on google of a couple of guys with 12foot stilts working in an orchard. Got the chance to have a go today and they were great! Much quicker than moving ladders and all the up and down. You can get right inside the tree.
Does anyone else use them?

What sort of uses are you thinking?

Hi,I've just seen a recent post of someone trying to find a borer. I know they are used for taking samples, but what do you do with the samples? Can they be tested for certain diseases?
Many thanks
