  1. Hi there large size postcard A5, well made attractive cards in color work a treat I use vistaprint brilliant .I also have a website . don't bother with the usual small business cards they land up in the bin no one keeps these they are a wast of money

The large size cards I find people keep them the pin them up on there boards at home .

The best and free advert is your work, give each customer a stack of them after doing your job and they will do all the advertising for you for Free, they will give all the cards to there friends and the recommendations as well this has been 99% of all my advertising you don't need to pay for it advertising

When I very first started up I did a card drop and pined a few in garden centers and at my local shops for free this worked really well . every local shop and café ,fish & chip shop ,your local pub , every place you go to reg most of them will display your cards for free .any clubs and stuff you go to the same applies your local school your kids go to and so on .every person you come into contact with most of them will have a garden with the possibility of trees in them a golden opp . allways carry a stack of cards with you , trust me it works .

    Hope this helps

  2. Polo shirts are the worst of the worst ,I would never Ever issue those as a uniform to climbers or groundies ,even worse dark coloured polo shirts that attract the heat . I don't mind vests as long as there is nothing rude or swearing or bad tast ,the job is hot , for me I whare plain T shirts .

  3. bLoody hell that less that your would get for utility cutting and less traveling

    Its a no brainer[/quote

Yep you are dead right the problem is the more people go and do it for that the more the company's push down the rates because they know people are going to do it ,I done shed loads of this deveg rail work but under the rope access banner and the money is much better, but even in rope access we are seeing a down turn on rates recently .

  4. yeah that's what my plan is. I took a maple down today and the guy I work for was shouting and jumping up and down that I was too slow. Maybe I do check and double check too many times but I'm not keen on falling out the tree.

The idiot also put my climbing rope through the chipper which unsettled me a bit!!!

Sounds like you are working for a nasty bit of work ,I would say get out of there quick ,and find a better person to work for ,chipping your rope is really serious especially if y were up the tree at the time ,the person on the ground is ment to look after y up there , not be a danger to you .a person shouting and balling at you when you are cutting up the tree could make you have a accident whilst you are cutting , if someone is balling at you up there there is one sure way to stop it , every time he does it turn off the saw and climb down the tree.

All the best and good luck littletree

  5. Hi there I think quite a few have now moved over to rope access doing de vegging as there s masses and masses of rope access long term rail work , I do a quite a lot of this type of work and see lots of tree climbers and cutters migrate over from regular tree surgery its not overlay nice work as its all the same it rail embankment and all you are doing is using the IRATA system going up and down the embankment cutting small trees and bramble but is very well paid work , there seems to be a massive shift towards rope access company's getting these huge rail devegging contracts and its well paid for the cutters that coming over . It may be nothing to do with the shortage but its just a thought ,

  6. Hi to all the guys and girls that climb / cut on ropes , I have been searching for a mini fuel and oil container that could be clipped yo your harness that would fill your small saw or hedge trimmer once with fuel / oil I do a fair bit of IRATA de veg work with long embankments drops and it would be handy to have a spare tiny one shot of each so you don't need to come up the 40m pitch for refuel ,

Does anyone know if there is a purpose made mini duel fuel /oil can with little clip out there ?

I have been digging round the Internet but no luck yet

Has anyone else come across one ? Or something similar that would do it ? Thanks

  8. Hi there it would be good if you did your PA1 and PA6 together as one goes with the other and to actually use the stuff then 1/6 is what you need .

They will give y all the study matrial and take you through it all I think mine was a 3 day course including the assessments ,

I was really worried about the maths but they will give y a sheet that you just fill in the numbers and then it's simple just adding up with a calculator , my assor was really nice and they will give some le way and point y in the right direction

All they really want to see is that you are safe and have read the material and have an understanding with what you dealing with ,

Things they really want to see is proper use of PPE when doing the mixing

And being carfull when you dispose of the left overs this and being able to give the correct dosage it reading the label .

    All the best

    Good luck littletree:thumbup:

  9. Little Tree, you have to do the Great Barrier Reef. Fantastic diving if you go out on a boat for a week. The Red Sea is supposed to be good too. Hoping to do a Great White Shark Dive off California sometime.

Would lv to , I might go this coming Xmas as never dived in blue clear warm water only Uk so looking forward to that

  10. I know it must be tough for you , but really its important to keep your relationship a relationship ,otherwise it can land up just 2 people sharing a house together for years . The bigger picture is brilliant , but don't let it become the only picture on the wall , life is a balance too much of any one thing will always tip the scales costing you somewhere else .

I wish you all the best

  11. Hi there I am a keen diver been at it for nearly 10 years I mainly do fresh water and overhead diving caves / mines in the Uk

I would lv to dive abroad one day so that's a must do .i lv diving so much it's one of the best things I have ever done .

I would recommend a PADI course I started in a BSAC but very soon moved out as it just took so so long meaning u cannot dive anywhere else till its all signed off , i got really fed up , i paid again at another place to get it finished and signed off over 1 weekend . Then I was free to dive where and with who I wanted .

    All the best and enjoy
