  1. started tree work when I was 18 with a t reg fiesta van and a stihl 250,

now 23 and and running a 06 cabstar and 6in entec, mk 3 hilux, massey 390 with loader and 10in TP pto chipper, couple of ifor trailors, small cherry picker, ford dexta and all me firewood gear plus a host of saws :) most of my gear is fairly old but im fairly handy on the spanners! keeps me buisy at any rate :)

  2. after my first year chipping into my hilux I treated myself to an 06 cabstar to run along side it and love it, I built my own chip cage in a weekend and got it sign written the next and it rearly improved the look of my outfit id definatly say try and get the best you can afford rather than going bargin basement. try to find a 3lt turbo as they rearly do pull much better than the 2.5s. and as has been said they rearly are brilliant at manuvering an I think they can actually carry more weight than a tranny unless someone can correct me? my only grip is that parts are eye wateringly expensive because patten parts arnt available ( at least for my 06 plate) good luck with your serch :)

  3. i had a look at this chipper at the lamma show, and what can i say, it has to be one of the most poorly made, cheaply put together and dangerous new machine iv had the misfortune to see on the market! the best bit was when i looked in the infeed hopper at the knife to find it was missing a large chunk on one corner and the entire blade had a 1mm wide crack from corner to corner, this on a machine which i didnt think had even been run, which sort of summed it up!! dont be tempted, spend your 4k on a used main line machine!

  4. hi guys just after any ones opinion on tp 250 pto, anything to look out for ect. been looking at one its been used but is generaly tidy, oils up, greased ect needs a tidy tho asking 2000 ono hes happy for me to take it and try it out, what people recon? :001_rolleyes:

  5. had a similar problem on my entec, tuned out to be that one of the roller blades bolts had worked loose (two per blade) and that blade section was flaping up and hitting the front of the anvil stopping the bottom roller from tuning, so may be worth checking your blade bolts!

  6. Servicing isn't a problem, mine rattles and squeaks a bit!! Best vehicle i've ever owned mind you. Would like another one with just a few less squeaks now. I just like the idea of going out in the morning and it starting first turn of the key. Every morning as well. Who says you can't beat the Land Rover:lol:. Come on guys where is the 'Jap fan cub'?

cheres to that!!! iva a mk 4 and my dad a mk 3, realy rate them, i dont know many landrover defenders at 3 -400000 with the original chassis, engine, bodywork, gearbox ect ect:laugh1:

  7. i think you have come across a real gap in the market as far as i can see! i have a 2000 reg double cab hilux and would defo be interestd if someone could make it a tipper for around a thousand, no more shoveling chip and logs! but as everyone has said, keeping the price low is a bigg part of weather people will go for it. hope you make it to the prototype stage, would love to see it!!

  8. hi guys, iv recently repainted my 6in diesel entec and was wondering if is possible to still get the woodpecker and any other stickers for it?? any advice appriciated! also is there a hydraulic oil filter on these machines? i assume it is the round unit bolted to the hydro tank? and where do you drain and renew the hydo oil from?? sorry to bombard with questions but have found arbtalk very helpfull with topics such as this in the past!! cheres:biggrin:

  9. i was looking for the same a few months ago but ended up with an entec 6 inch at a good price, glad of the extra capacity machine, i would say do keep an eye out for a slightly larger one in the ads you never know whatl turn up!

  10. i was originaly looking for a 4 inch entec first chipper as well but endend up with the larger 6inch diesel model, fantastic machine, serviced it, new blades lick of paint and she does me well!!
