  1. Just read the story again in the paper this has me seething. The guy in charge on site, paul steward is in for a promotion and refuses to apologies, supposely it was a"succesful outcome"!

If this site didn't have a swearing policy i write what i think of this guy! :cursing:

  2. For a decent groundsperson with saws and tickets and common sense. I pay £120.

I'll do it for 100 quid as i've no common sense:001_tt2:

I'm amazed at what some of you are willing to pay. Without blowing my own trumpet i've been told i'm one of the best groundies people have ever worked with yet i'm only commanding £80 at day.

    can i have a job?

  3. your climbing line should NEVER be used as anything other than designed, and should alsio at all times be in a direct line below you for rapid descent in case of emergency:sneaky2:

but a rope is designed to take weight right? when i lower with my line its stuff that is alot lighter than me.

  4. If you enter this industry you need to be prepared to take a few knocks. Me writing in a book that i've been a nob and messed up won't help anyone,

I've done myself badly with a silky took a nice chunk off my thumb, did i get down, go write in a book and go to A&E? no i got the job done went and helped on another, then went to A&E (Same experience for most of my other injuries).

Stupid yes, as it was worthy of a trip straight there, but i think thats the kind of blokes we are!

There are so many variables in our work it will never be 100% safe, it can't be. Its our experience and skill that make it closer to that "safe" mark. We learn from OUR mistakes not others (most of the time). Its why things like cutting yourself with a silky are all most like a rite of passage. Face it we love it!

  5. Truely shocking, i'm totally gobsmacked infact. SO much wrong in those videos, how someone wasn't killed is amazing. Those "instructors" should be sacked without question. The amount of people (16 at least) milling around in tree and on the deck was such a hazard.

Having had a close call from a big branch snapping out from the chains as i came in to turn it, to seeing so many guys standing around the pick scares the snot out of me.

Crazy balancing( if you can call it that)

    mental cutting

    lack of PPE

    shock loading a crane

even my dog could tell you that looked deadly!

  6. Not quite sure what to do about my current situation. I'm a subby and its always been an unwritten rule that i'm payed on the day or at the end of the week. If theres an issuse with money and asked if i can wait then i generally will.

I'm just having real issues with the guy i do alot of my work with I'm reguarally being paid late, over the last few months every couple of weeks i'm having to wait longer due to cashflow probelms. This i can deal with but its the comments of "i haven't been paid so can't pay you, its just how it is" that are really starting to grate. I'm a chilled out guy when it comes to money but i'm getting in quite a mood over this.

Do i suck it up or have it out with him?

  7. As much as i love stretch airs at well over 200 quid i'm not sure i'll get another pair. It's not that i don't mind paying alot for good shizz its just thats silly money compared to others. plus the stitching is still crappy.

  8. I'm pretty sickened by it all really, its a sad state of affairs we've come to. I feel for the police as they are damned if they do damned if they dont', look at the fall out from the G20 riots. the media were screaming blue murder after one person is killed from "aggresive" policing. Now everyone wants aggressive police tactics again. But cops will end up in the dock when they are finally allowed to do their job as some scumbag will get a well deserved kicking and go crying to the all the Polticial correct twits that love to jump on the outrage bus.

Curfews, the army and a no kid glove approach. Give em hell back!

  9. Will finally be buying a new pair next week as theres not much sole left on mine, things keep poking me in the foot. Have to agree with rich, i've got massive feet in all dimensions and the airstreams have been the best work boots i've ever worn.
