  1. Big Pine in NZ on a 45 degree from a bank hanging over live 11kv,no roping points or anything, had to shimmy up and dismantle it all over the lines while trying to keep my rope and all the branches from clashing the lines. Wasn't really that keen on it but had to be done.

  2. Be a sad day if my wife and nan were reading this forum! Not that i have anything against it but c'mon that's taking the piss. As long as posts don't breach the forum guidelines whats the problem.Everyone's so different with their own opinions there's no way you can not expect clashes etc.. its life. Obviously people take the piss quite often probably me included. I wish there was a section where we could call out all the non paying companies etc...especially when it has happened to numerous subbies!

Guess this post will get flamed but that's my view.

  3. Nothing arb/forestry related in NZ is transferable to the UK,its all about making money, went through this whole thing nearly 7 years ago.Your cert in arb will be fine but you will still have to gain NPTC certs to work, although some companies will let you work with your NZ certs.

  4. If you've ever used a gun do you put the butt on your right or left shoulder? A left handed friend puts it on his left, which seems just not right to me

Im right handed and have the butt on my left shoulder, feels right!

  5. I have climbed on a few different marlow ropes and just find them way too bouncy for my liking.

The rope i put the link to n the first post can be used in DdRT. The 11mm version shouldn't be used. There are three different Hedera ropes, the 11mm SRT, the 11.7mm DdRT or SRT and the 13mm DdRT or SRT.

Ok,the marlow rope i got is 11mm static and pretty much has no bounce good for the price as well.

  6. Do you really need Chainsaw foot "protection ?"

I just use whatever hiking boots fit my feet,or Wesco boots from America in the Summer when I am feeling like a Logger.I have never cut a foot and frankly think that anyone who has is a bit of a Bell End.

Ahh mike mike mike,Its not a need but a requirement for most company's insurance in the UK.Every company i have worked for require the standard PPE to be used /worn on site.

In the end if it stops me from hurting my self one day then yes you can call me a bell end! There you go i have taken the bait!

  8. Hi guys just after anyones insight please

So I am flying out to New Zealand on boxing day, gonna try and start a new life out there, I am currently doing a lot of stuff here I do a lot of building work, irata rope access and also started doing some ground work! hopfully I will get to do some more before I leave.

I wanna get into the tree work when I am over there hopefully

I was just wondering if its gonna be worth doing my 30/31 here then trying get work there, or just get more experience here save my money then when I head over try to find work without them then do qualifications.

Also whats it like trying to find work with only a bit of experience, I like to think I am a hard working guy and I wanna learn more.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Get any tickets you can, they are transferable,Company's will take you on green.Where are you thinking of basing yourself there?im going to be heading back nov/dec time.
