When you can perform surgery on a tree?
So......when can a person ligitimately call themselves a tree surgeon??CS 30/31/38/39,? or do you need more than that?
Do you expect the title to mean a lot more than basic training? How much peripheral knowledge is a tree surgeon expected to have.
To me, a surgeon is an expert, or at the very least, somebody who can safely prune or take down a mature tree and give correct basic advice on tree care.
There are too many cowboys out there with a bowsaw and a ladder, definitely, but at what point during the NPTC training can somebody be considered to have earned their stripes?
Opinions please.

Done my 2 day assesment and got my certifacate. It was more like a course for beginers but as I had done it before the hedge layer who was teaching focused alot on me and helped me brush up on my skills, and taught me stuff I didnt already know!!!!!!!!! All in all a bloody good weekend!!!!

Have got the official "NOD" from where I am to source the wood for my kindling, so will have pics and prices on here this week. The kindling will be recycled from other wood used for other things, but is clean and dry. burns like hell so you should have no trouble lighting the old fires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it mate mate, nothing like teaching kids proper skills, not sitting in front of the telly or playing video games. I am only twenty nine and have hardly ever stayed in to watch crap on the telly or play video games, even though that was the thing to do when I grew up. My daughter is only 5 and loves coming to the woods with me and seeing all the wildlife and learning about the countryside!!!

I can lay hedges but am still doing a course on saturday and sunday to brush up on my skills and get my certifacate!!!!!!!!

heres me thinking stihls where indestructible????
mines been bounced across the yard a few times.. still going strong
apart from a few new bars and chain brakes............
((((because of >>>>>women:mad1:))))
I have had it 4 years and have used it hard but always looked after it, before me a shuttering chippy had it to cut up timber for shuttering, big shuttering I think ie; padstones for bridges and basements

Just been informed the carb on my trusty Stihl 021 is knackered and its gonna cost £70 for a new one, I only paid £70 for it in the first place. My old mans mate at work is getting a kit for it to see if he can salvage it.
Any of you guys selling a similar saw?

Its £60 and its through Rutland Water.

Wicked will have a look at that mate. Your website is very trick though mate, it looks really proffesional, everyone on here has commented on how good it is, you should be damn proud mate.

Yeah thats what they said to me when I applied for it. I do the two days and get assesd with a certifacte at the end. Seems strange to me aswell to have to be assesed in something like that, I only want the certifacate to back up my skills in hedgelaying just makes it easier when looking for work.
-
Is that your bloody house on your website, the one with turrets. Christ not sure a peasant like me should be allowed to look at such a posh website, I am just an uncultured swine!!!!!!!!!!!!

doing my hedgelaying assesment at the weekend, gonna take two days and then I get my certifacate for hedgelaying, hope I do well!!!

Sweet cheers for the advice mate. Might start getting the wood together ready for next winter and the height of summer what do reckon?
-
Just starting up a small/tiny little sideline. I have the opporunity to make up my own kindling. The only outlay I have is the netted bags and my time. I have been toying with the idea for bout 2 months and have finally decided to do it.
Few questions: Does this sell in the summer?
What prices?
Volumes/weights?
-
Very SMART mate, looks really good, very proffesional hope it helps the business grow and keeps you outta mischief.

It might be a company called "geotechnical". They do drilling and stuff like that but have many landrovers and other vehicles with a stegasaurus on them.
Thats the one mate, thought they were an arb firm cos I saw a rake of blokes pile out of there vans with saws and forestry helmets and all the gear!!!!
