  1. I have the x170 and I'm very pleased with it, it works very well in trees, very robust, good'ish sound quality, wind noise is a problem as you'll notice in the vid, but when you're stationary its quite clear. Picture quality is good, with a slight effect of looking out of a goldfish bowl (gives a wider view) Have heard the hd version is excellent, especially for £270 (mine cost £200 from a stall at the iom tt last year) This video was taken with the x170 attached to my motorcycle helmet using the fittings that came with it, it is me on my 1200 bandit going over the mountain part of the circuit, hitting 140mph on the straights. for those that don't know, during tt week the mountain part of the circuit is one way only, that's why all the traffic cones are there, to mark where it starts and to make some spots safer, also once your out of built up areas and you pass the end of speed limit sign, there is just that, NO SPEEDLIMIT [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWLlMxY-rnc&feature=player_profilepage]YouTube - Iom tt 1200 bandit over the mountain (2)[/ame]
  2. I would be intersted in any kind of tree work, but my experience is in utility arb, I'm based in caernarfon and currently work out of a yard in dogellau, something closer to home would be nice, but am happy to travel for the right job. Qualifications NPTC units CS30.1 CS30.2 CS31 CS32 CS34 CS38 CS39 CS40 CS41 Electrical units UA1 UA2.1 UA2.2 UA2.3 I am fully authorized to carry out tree cutting operations on scottish power networks. 3. Yes mate, wce network services, I live in caernarfon and work out of our yard in Dolgellau so I'll probably see you around sometime, good luck with the interview! Ed, I was talking to our tree co-ordinator from scottish power today and it seems that they are still issuing WI-PS, the autherisation issue was something that just affected our company.
  4. Incidentally Ian, who are you going to work for? A couple of the lads I work with are from Mach
  5. Not long Ian half hour or so. Totally agree Mr Ed, hugely restricts the type of work that you can do with a 3 man team
  6. Hello mate, The interview is when someone from scottish power decides what level of authorisation you will get. Up until a week ago someone with no experience of powerline work would have been given the authorisation WI,ps, This is working isolated under personal supervision, but something has happened to change that in our company and for our subies, it is now neccasary to have at least WI 1 (working isolated with an accompanying person) to be allowed on site. They will probably tell you more when you go. In the interview they will ask you about the things you've learnt on your courses, live zones, vicinity zones, which trees you can cut live and which are shutdowns and the different methods of safely taking down and pruning trees, the type of questions they ask will be relevant to your ability and experience, so long as you know the distances you'll be fine.
