Thank you for all the replies, I have not had a bar with a lump out of it before , had worn bars through general wear and tear.
This just seemed unusual as the bar had a new chain when fitted and has not been used on the ground or dropped. The discolouration is only due to sap and will clean off fairly easy.
Rob d thank you for your kind offer, I shall take it back to the original supplier for their inspection .

It appears that you got a lot more snow than us, you must live in a badly affected area. You didn't get much, look at all mine. -
Have not seen one of those for years, we had one on the farm for carrying wood and feed just reminded me of it seeing that picture.

Prefere to repair when ever possible, otherwise and old friend of mine will carry out mechanical repairs for me when I'm pushed.

As of today (just now in fact), my norton anti-virus is doing exactly the same thing. Did something similar a couple of months back but then stopped. Didnt encounter any problems, just hazard warnings.
Yep exactly the same.

Thank you Steve and everyone concerned, had a great evening watching the results in the lounge.

Sorry?
There seems to be a bit of superstition when you cut down a Holly , apparently brings bad luck.
Personally I have always found it to make really good fire wood even burnt it green and as to the superstition never thought about it.

It's grim here this morning, wet and windy. Going to see if it improves a bit later but I doubt it. If it had just held off two more days it would have been fine
It is raining hard here in East Sussex and a bit windy as well, taken day off and doing a bit of Christmas shopping , Humbug.

Yes, many times I have thought I hope they see the chipper , as you say many people do not see it until they are almost on top of it especially early in the morning. Like you I tend to make the turn as slow as possible so they have time to view whats being towed.

On a slightly different tack considering how many images have been taken of certain people while in the process of taking someone else's property it would be good to be able to build a picture gallery for future identification. There must be a considerable number of images available. what the legalities are for doing this I am not sure, but what a rouges gallery that would make. just a thought.
