  1. Thanks to all for the replies, I just hope the dealers are not too overwhelming on the day, I do have a Bipolar disorder and suffer BADLY with Turrets syndrome, and on top of that being an alcoholic dwarf complicates my conditions further.

Sounds like it could be an interesting chat:thumbup:

  3. Good evening all, been looking at buying a new grinder, or two,Yes I like the Bandit 2250, no belts nice big wheel but a little bit chunky but great build quality, Fav was the Joe Beau 31-110 , compact, well built, auto sweep and on tracks, but then I have just come across the FSI B30-470, Its got auto sweep, narrow just a tad long, but way under budget compared to the Joe Beau, and just under budget compared to the Bandit. Has anyone any experience of this machine please, I think all will be at the trade show, FSI also do a push pivot 13hp grinder, half the price of the Bandit HB20, Don't all hop on me , I know that they are two very different machines, but on price and weight its well worth thinking about. :confused1:

The FSI Stumpgrinders are quality machines with a good pedigree in design an innovation, if you are interested in the machines please give me a call and I will be happy to talk you through the range, we will be at the Arb show with 3 machines out of the range so please come onto our stand and find me.:thumbup1:

  4. Had quite a bit to do with them both using and selling, they produce a very good chip, as with all drum chippers you may get a few straifs of timber from the end of the cord, if you keep timber going in to the feed you will get the best quality chip.:thumbup1:

  5. I think that depends how you define "works well"!

How much are they? I suppose if they are really cheap then it is viable and not worth running a dedicated grinder.

One of the 13hp wheeled grinder looks similar and a 25hp push along will be a vast amount quicker.

The only way I can see you can make one work well is with a dedicated engine and pump. I thought about making something that you pick up with brackets on the blade. A 30hp + engine and matching cutting head.

Not the best vid or operator, any grinder will stall when trying to take too much in 1 pass for the size of the machine or is ditched into the ground, the downside with 360 mounted grinders is that there is no pivot point sat on the ground to steady the machine to gauge the depth of the cut and the slew can be difficult to operate slow enough. It may be better to fit the grinder at 90 degrees to the cab and instead of slewing, grind by moving the dipper arm in and out, might give a little more control.

Price wise the RETAIL price for ST20H is £3,500 + VAT + mounting bracket.

I would be happy to talk a deal if anyone is interested:thumbup1:

  6. if you want a totally mobile unit can I suggest that you try our Farmi WP36 trailed processor complete with its own engine, no need to purchase a tractor as you can tow it behind a car if needed, I have sent a pm with my contact details if you want a demo.

it is advertised in the classified for hire with a couple of pics>

  7. Hi all, can I have some advice please.

At the arb show in Gloucestershire last year I purchased a Predator F350/14,the build quality looked good and I,ve used various grinders over the past 20 yrs.

Within a couple of weeks the rubber stone protectors began to tear and come off, then the rubber engine mountings failed so belt tension couldn't be carried out! Thirdly the fold down stand kept falling down on its own impeding the grinding process.

Fourth, the throttle wouldn't stay open(checked the spring ...not that).

Finally this week the exhaust literally broke apart and fell off!

The machine has probably done an absolute maximum of 30 hrs.

Predator run a multi tip wheel on these ,are they too vicious

    My questions are :

Has anyone else had issues like these with this model?

What would you do in my situation?

What should I expect when contacting predator?

It sounds like you are not having much joy with this machine, Firstly you have to give the dealer chance to put the problems right under the warranty (if you have not already done so), any dealer worth his salt will want to sort the issues and get the machine working correctly and regain the trust of the customer,

I cannot comment on issues with this model as I have only operated and sold the older Predator machines!

Any machine is only as good as the back up by the dealer.

good luck with getting the issues sorted:thumbup1:

  8. But why??? Why have redwoods gone down this route? Is it a Jensen modded or a whole now non-jensen machine??? Can't see it fills a niche Jensen didn't cover...:confused1:

Good point, where does this leave Jensen in this market place, can the 2 products run out of the same stable:confused1:

  9. There's a simple explanation for this, tip an engine on its side and it runs on its own oil, the oil when hot simply burns like fuel. I bet it blew out some blue grey smoke at the time.

I was going to say the same, I have heard of a number of machines, mainly chippers being thrown over that continue to run on the oil and cannot be switched off, I would think that this is the most probable reason if all the stop switches check out ok in normal operation, have you asked whether there was blue smoke and a burning oil smell?

How did he manage to stop the engine or did it stop of its own accord?

what model FSI do you operate?

We are the Importers of FSI Stumpgrinders so please give me a call to dsicuss.
