  1. Thanks for your comments. Im thinking that I'll take a third of the top out and shape accordingly. Cheers again.
  2. Thanks for your comments so far. Has anyone else experience of reducing a blue cedars height and overall shape?
  3. Opps I appear to have muddled my trees. That'll learn me! How do you edit on this darn page? The tree in question is the very distinctive Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca'
  4. Afternoon folks. I have been asked to prune a blue cedar of around 7 meters in height. The customer would like the height reduced due to lack of light in their garden. I have suggested removing the tree aand replanting but this does not appear to be an option. I am unsure as to whether prunning out the central leader and top branches would be good practice for such a tree. I have spotted the occasional blue cedar with the leaders tastefully removed, but am unsure of the potential future damage this may cause the tree and how aesthetically pleasing the tree still looks. Any advice or prunning techniques would be most welcome. Cheers
  5. Hi Rupe,

I have previously worked with Dave Shephard at Thecous Arboriculture as a casual groundie.

I am definetly more of a trainee (5 month experience) and have my chainsaw tickets to take. If you are looking for someone to help you out occasionaly or even on a more permanent basis then please feel free drop me a email.

    Cheers

  6. Thanks for the offer Darren, but i'm just putting a casual feeler out there. Cheers
  7. Afternoon folks, Has anyone studied the Arboriculture Level 3 Tech Certificate at Bridgewater college? Just looking for some feedback as I am considering the course.
  8. Yes! Included Bark! That’s what I was trying to think of. Thanks very much Mac
  9. Morning folks, I am trying to rack my brain for the professional terminology when a tree trunk/ limb starts to partially grow into two pieces causing the bark to invert? Hope that make sense Yok
  10. Yeah I was thinking along those lines myself….Separate the wheat from the chaff and all that. Cheers
  11. Cheers for your comments and opinions folks. I think I may persue work experience with one of the many local Arborists in my area before enrolling on a course. Should there be anything in particular I look for when seeking a potenial emplyer within the industry eg, do they run a good practice, have all the correct tickets etc?
  12. Hi folks, I am a newbie to the industry and am currently working on a voluntary basis with my local council to gain some first hand experience before enrolling on a course. Could you give me your opinions of a fast track course such as this: http://www.capel.ac.uk/Courses/Upminster/CGLI_0220_Prac_Arb_Skills_998175qu.htm Cheers
