  1. Commercial climber/ groundsman wanted for the above areas. Own kit essential. This is a freelance position open to experienced climbers who will be expected to undertake all areas and levels of public arboriculture and forestry. Please contact me for further details.

  2. I visited a client this week who had tried to glean infomation on how he should proceed with tree work on a forum. The advice he was offered was poor incorrect and certainly did not reach guidelines set out under Bs3998. Had he undertaken the advice given my Lawyer informs me the person who offered this advice would be liable in a court of Law. So before any solutions, fungi idents or opinions are given in the public domain please make sure you are qualified and insured to be giving out this advice. This goes for offering climbing solutions rope and harness set ups and how you would make the work climb yourself. Sorry if this sounds hard but in worse case sinarios could you cope with the legal and psycological issues that would arrise from an accident or incident.

  3. Good afternoon

I have a very large oak stem that will need either to be milled or lifted in order to remove. There is a hard road leading to the site. The stem is approx 6ft across and about 12ft long. It is in sussex. I would expect some return on a piece of timber this valuable planted cira 1730. Any offers welcome.

    Thanks

  4. After settling down last year and selling on the practical side of the business to consult I am heading back to contractual work. A contract has come up in se London and I need a man with a van and chipper who can climb at a commercial level. We have tip sites available close by I would expect approx 3 days a week would be required from applicants. All work is in the public domain and as before I expect a high level of work ethic from all employees as well as thick skin and a sense of humour. Climbing will not be everyday as I shall kindly put my saddle back on and do my share. Contract starts with small trees leading on to larger material. I have a good idea what the going rate is and welcome any offers.

  5. Good evening all

Due to my Land Rover blowing a hole through a core plug i am currently unable to tow anything. I could do with a man and a chipper for about 3 hours work on Friday morning. Big clients so reply's must be able to commit 100% to this day or the will hit the fan and i will hunt u down. Please message me with reasonable quotes chippings to be left on site so no take away. Hope everyone is in fine form and climbing safely.

  6. Hi All

The dreaded worse happened and i have busted my ankle and i am unable to climb at the moment.

So!!! Experienced climber needed for 30% horse chestnut reduction. It is an old pollard so large multi stems. Let me know what your looking for as a day rate. I would complete in a day the climbing work. Oh is in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

  7. Personally if feel that oragon 4mm files work better on small stihl chains than the stihl variety. I think i posted a huge guide on this years ago Mr Bullman. Follow the angle on the top of the cutter file guides can we a little obstructive while filing gently twist the file. This ensure's maximum contact and balances out the wear across the file diameter oh and make sure the file is sharp and wipe in on ya strides to work out any filings that might be clogging it.

  8. Cheers Garth big kit always helpfull on some of the big estates i manage. Not for sale i could always hang a curtain over the van and camoflage you mate. One off jobs that i cant get all away in a day myself very helpfull and of course meeting like minded folk. Minotaur could be a little awkward if you knew who you were posting to mate. Ho ho ho i love arb talk never know who you might bump in to.

Steve if you read this some of our old posts must be some of the longest running on here shall reply to hows work vertical lmit one day.

  9. Due to the loss of our chipper on more than one occasion, i am taking the time too see if it is a viable option to find somebody in Kent who has a chipper and tipper. Reliability in both man and chipper a definate and flexability good, although plenty of notice always given where possible. I have a tip site but more than one always helpfull to save time!! Rates by negotiation tickets and liability insurance required. Sure this will help someone in these quieter times. Oh and if someone wants all the log wood which we arrange to be removed from sites asap please let me know.

  10. Take the exaust off will find horrible pitting on the piston if its anything like my last one that had those symptoms. Sometimes better of just swallowing hard and buying a new one. This is a air mix fault with original carbs fitted to the ms200.

  11. Lee how much of your work entails forestry as a rough percentage. Sounds like you need to get good legal representation. Do you or your family have entitlement to legal aid. I can do what i can from here to advise you but this is a rather grey area within the law. Fear not though these things can often be resolved in a meeting with your local council and at worse can be dragged out for many years. The local authorities may have had strained dealings with your neighbour and be happy to come to an amicable arrangement. If you send me an email address should at least be able to start you in the right direction.

Hello to everyone i have not spoken with for nearly two years. Work has taken me far and wide now settling back to normal. Hope that you are all safe and well seems an age since the old proclimber postings

  12. A few months ago I changed my 45m xtc for the new Yale Blaze. After climbing for about 8 hours on what seemed a nice light rope, the outer sheath came away from the inner core leaving me with an end of rope with 1mtr of core missing and a large portion of bunched outer sheath in the centre of the rope. This then stuck fast in the friction hitch on descent. The rope in question was then sent back. 6 weeks on I am still without explanation from my arb dealer or yale and no offer to repace clearly a hazardous piece of kit.

Can anyone else confirm problems with this rope!!

Might be time to name and shame the arb supplier in question. No connection to this site that i am aware of Steve.

  13. Have worked along side the NPTC for a few years now, not mentioning any names but there is a thread of unfair play that runs deep through industry. Trainers and assessors are communicating before candidates assessments and many training providers have targets to meet. Without ironing this out the Industry will still continue to provide unsafe workers

  14. All to do with insurance and liability. If we employ climbers then we supply the kit. There can be no possibility of confict arrising in the event of an accident or claim.

Take the kit Monkey any climber that uses the kit after you is no climber at all if he is prepared to climb on used kit.

I write it of as a loss and carry on!!!!

  15. Wouldnt use a double handed assender an a srt these are designed primarily for doubled rope techniquies. Not really caught on here yet really as a bit to fussy for us tree folk. One handed is great leaves the other to advance friction device.

Attaching yourself to the grcs and groundie on the handle can be a quick way up.
