  1. Peter:alberteinstein:, Ok...that's the technique the young-buck at work showed me. He tied off one end of his crotched line then used an ascender and footlocked up the other side. Thanx for the clarification. I'd like to try it, but I would rather not have to tie off my line.
  2. Oh....I'm new here....haven't figured out everyone yet....thanks:heeeelllllooooo:
  3. Marc, Excuse my ignorance, but what is "srt"?
  4. Spikes in a live tree?! I only use spikes in trees that are being removed.
  5. Marc, I have no clue.....I never footlocked before either....my work just hired this young-buck and he was showing me how he footlocks....he says it's much easier than the thrust method....which I can understand cause ur legs r doing most of the work.
  6. Like I said before, I never footlocked before....I use the old taut-line hitch and thrust method....a guy that was just hired was showing me how he foot locks. I have no idea why he ties one end of his line off to an anchoring point. Thats why I was wondering how to use the technique w/o tying the line to an anchor point. I take it, by some of the posts, that it is possible. I've been climbing for 19yrs, it's taking it's toll on the body:bawling:....if this method is easier on the body I'd like to give it a try.
  7. A guy I work with showed me how he footlocks, but I have a question about the technique. After crotching his line, he tied off one end of his line to another tree as an achor point. My question is: If you are by yourself with nobody to untie your rope, is there another way to use this technique? When I asked him that question, his reply was "You shouldn't be working by yourself". That's all fine and good, but in reality, I do side-work and sometimes I am by myself. So, is there a way to footlock w/o anchoring your line?
