have you ever thought about having a change of career to health and safety consultant.
This nation could learn lots from your whoopsies.

Those head bolts fall out for a passtime. Your lucky they didnt snap off leaving the threaded bit down in the crankcase but just check before you try to put new ones in.

despite the multitude of knots and methods of prussiking I was glad I know the three knot system as last week as I used it to retrieve a jammed rope while still in the canopy.

Maximise your wood by using everything down to 50mm this stuff is ideal for charcoal kilns. The more you trim out the less the brash seems to be. Pile brash round or on coppice stools to prevent deer browsing. Alternatively make a dead hedge to keep out the deer from sprouting coppice.
try to limit machine use to tracks/ rides only. make wide rides east to west to maximise light into the wood and help woodland plants. chipping is less desireable than just leaving the brash on the floor as woodland plants can survive under scattered brash but have not adapted to life under chip piles yet.

Had you thought of leaving some trees for CCF,( continouous cover forestry) though corsican is beginning to suffer from red band needle blight in many areas of the country.

I once had a dumper with a cordwood cradle replacing the skip. it worked well but its a long way up to pile it , i'm too feeble for that kind of thing now.

275?
300?
what are you lot on.
that machine should be on 450 minimum.
it will do 10 times what a man and strimmer can do. and how much would you want for that.
even second hand thats a £25,000 outfit you need to charge what its worth to get your money back.

Botex seem bombproof, mine is 23 years old and works well.
Guerra forwarding trailers from spain look pretty solid.

... i dont employe enough folk to need a r/a
don't be so sure of that.
you should do R/A but you may only need to do it verbally not on paper

a good person with a sharp ( newish) file should be as quick to sharpen a chain as a dope who has to change a chain. Dull chains also put so much strain on the saw and stretch the chain. Sharp chains cut quicker and save money in the long term.
Never be too tight to spend a quid on a file, thats 2 mars bars or 3.5 fags or 1 litre of petrol, stuff you wouldn't do without each day.

Some would say the same about Landrovers but they are still popular
cab has loads of space and comfy springy chairs that would suit any working mens club.
sadly its french gearbox with reverse where 1st normally is causes mayhem at traffic lights

Is cypress aphid the problem? We seem to get lots of juniper scale insects here. They love golden leylandii ( castlewellan ) but rarely chomp into the plain green.

Dont bother with greenstone grinder wheels, they wear very quickly and make lots of nasty fine dust. Get a double sided diamond disk for your angle grinder from Saturn Machine Knives ( they may also do the teeth) They last much longer and are quicker. Also I take the angle grinder and a long lead to work and use the clients electric to buff them up on the job. ( all other trades do this so why not us)

The EA are not stupid. They just look in yellowpages, thompson etc.. and cross reference with their database of listed businesses. Then they know who to target.
Looking in directories is what the HSE have done in the past.

Sorry but I must disagree, they are total pants ime.
Good engine but it stops right there.
Driving the truck is like being in a time warp, its 20 years old and the design was even old when it was new.
Reliability ? I have done about 800 miles in 5 years so it is good for me.

Not criticizing but how did you manage to get 4 days of work out of those conifers?
You cant see all of them, thats about half.

Its an H reg with 45k on the clock. Perkins engine. Starts and runs well . Slow on the road though. ( possibly a southern elec. modification)
