84hp Bi- Directional tractor Antonio Carraro 9400 TTR Year of manufacture 2003 Alpine/ Steep Slope tractor - 1917 hrs of use – low hours Very good condition. I am the third owner of this tractor, it was bought by a golf course to flail rough grassy areas – it was then purchased by a Welsh dealer who bought it and sold it to me almost straight away so I guess he purchased it to sell it on for a quick profit. My need for the tractor (other than always having wanted one) was to carry out a ground works project on a very steep section of woodland here cutting some tracks through brambles. Finding a large hp bi-directional alpine second hand is super rare and if I had more space I would certainly keep it - but unfortunately I do not really have enough regular work to justify keeping it. The tractor has been barn stored barn stored since we have owned it and the welsh dealer informed me that the Golf Course kept it dry stored as well - its cleaner than my car!! so I guess the golf course groundsmen also enjoyed cleaning and polishing it as well 😊 Tractor is in great condition overall for its age – Good points Bi-directional tractor – so simple to change the steering wheel and seat etc to face the other way (30 seconds I would estimate if your doing it slowly 😊) Amazing to drive – very sure footed- designed to work on seriously steep slopes Great off road – we have used for some light forestry work and mulching and the mulcher although the specs states 4cm max mulching capacity is an absolute beast and although I would never abuse a mulcher – I found that whatever it met it ate All glass and light lenses 100% Bad points When we purchased the tractor air con was not connected (however the tractor has so many windows that this has not worried us) – probably an easy fix if you had time One interior window clip is missing but the individual window has another latch and this holds the window secure just fine – so simply have not worried about this. Small Oil leak – does not affect performance and does not need regular topping up so again we have not investigated this - it could be something as simple as a pipe (but we have priced the tractor accordingly to allow for this fix) Kirkland Tractors import Antonio Carraro into the UK and a guy called Ben Short works in the parts department at Kirkland (his email is [email protected] I know this as in preparation of our sale we purchased a couple of broken light lens from him a few weeks ago (i have included this information to assist the new owner – these tractors are incredibly popular in Europe and so all parts are available off the shelf) A Flail Mower is also included in the sale – This is a Ferri MT200, this is not a mower for formal lawns – its designed to clear overgrown areas with thick vegetation The flail is also bi-directional and so you can mow towing it or mow facing forwards Good Points Mulch material upto 4cm in diameter and leaves a really good rough cut finish 2 metres wide – so you can cover large areas quickly The flail has a hydraulic side shift which is really useful Recent respray and sticker set so that it matches the tractor now in appearance 😊 Bad points Few of the metal guards that hang down along the rear tail guard are bent and one or two are missing – easy repair. 2. Thanks Andrew - the Kwik Chip Chiper has got to go - it has had full service already..... done belts, knives and anvil (rollers and hydraulics good) just not sure its the chipper for me clogs to easily - worked with far better and so knowing what's available keen to upgrade. Will upload photos of the job when I get into it - prob next yr. Thanks Dumper - yes had to modify the Kwik Chip to make it fit - whatever I end up with it will certainly be modded to suit the tractor and as you say the plan is to Mad Max Forestry Guard it Seen a few videos of same model tractor running the seppi midi on you t*be not expecting it to be the fastest or the most productive just keen to know what other owners think of their alpine forest mulchers.....any preferences or advice appreciated Many thanks
  3. Hello all...…….. I have recently purchased a 2003 Antonio Carraro Trx 9400 (87hp) alpine tractor and would appreciate some advice from fellow alpine users with regards to your experience with forestry mulchers and large diameter woodchippers attachments. I have some ride creation to attend to in a young sitka plantation (6-8" diameter trees at base and lots of gorse) . I intend to feed a pto chipper attached to the tractor via a small mini digger with cutting head to create the rides/tracks and then follow up - tidy up with the forestry mulcher...……….. I currently have an ancient kwik chip 8" pto chipper for the tractor - its excellent but has no reverse and having been spoilt with Schliesing and Jensen road towed chippers over the yrs - this thing gets jammed on leafy vegatation far more than I would like...………...I will be looking to upgrade this ...budget is not massive so looking for good/secondhand on the chipper. Looking at a 11" farmi ch 260 - anyone had any experience with one on these - looks good on you-tube? how do they fair with green leafy vegetation? or what other pto chippers would be up to the task...……….. Also Looking at Seppi Midi forst Fixed Knive Mulcher (2.0m wide - same width as tractor to avoid puntures) Any good? And does anyone have one for sale? How long do they last before you need to replace knives etc (I appreciate that depends on how many bad things you hit - but on average etc - would a new set of knives last 5 days or a month) Also interested in any other suitable similar width mulchers out there that are compatable with these tractors and your experience with them. Any other suggestions other that seppi for this sized tractor. Thank you in advance for any help
  4. Its got to be a fair finish. A bit of surface brash can be tracked in.... Have a look at the forestry tillers on you tube they look like they achieve a better finish than a standard mulcher. Or i hope they do ! You tube :seppi multiforst soil tiller or fae forestry tiller. I am hoping to locate someone who has a forestry tiller.
  5. Hi there, thankyou I agree. really looking for a forrestry tiller - these have roller on back that direct the mulcher below ground and leave a better finish than a standard mulcher
  6. Hi All. Does anybody know of a contractor who owns a heavy duty forestry tiller and mulcher. My job is near Arundel west sussex - I need to prepare some stumpy woodland ground for turfing. The machine must have the ability to work underground and condition the topsoil - something along the lines of seppi multiforst soil tiller or the fae forestry tiller and soil stabiliser. Many thanks for your help.
  7. Hello all Looking to purchase a 13 hp or there abouts stumpgrinder. What are your thoughts and which ones would you give the thumbs up. Danequip, rayco, carlton, camon etc Looking at the vermeer sc130 at the mo...... anyone got one?

  9. Hi Mark I am pleased your not experiencing difficulty with predator machinery, my limited interaction with the brand has not been so good. My machine has not been reliable at all......... My machine is approx 20 months old now and has done just over 100 hrs from new...... to save me writing an essay I will put aside all the times it broke down while under warranty in its first year Since the warranty expired my machine has worked on 7 occassions ( approx 15 hours) and broken down on 5 of those occassions (all unrelated) This has caused me hours of downtime, left me with jobs half finished and Customer Goodwill (which I strive to maintain) is hard to keep when your stumpgrinder releases hydraulic oil all over the clients lawn. On the last occassion it broke (vibration within the boom severed a wire that disabled the cutting wheel) the machine developed a further 2 unrelated problems while back in the care of the service agent!! the first while it was being tracked off the trailer..... rear housing became loose and started to shudder excessively!! - Redwood had to completely modify my stumpgrinder to rectify this by securing the rear section with bolts down into the frame ?!? and the second fault occurred on collection day - the machine would not start..... so an alternator and a battery later and I was away...... Maybe im just unlucky and are a stand alone case or maybe my machine is possessed !! Ian
  10. Hi there. My machine has developed lots of different faults - generally the machine has been rendered unusable when it has broken so if yours breaks as mine did you will know. I hope that I am a stand alone case and that your predator 28stumpgrinder gives you the reliability that you would expect from such an expensive bit of kit. Contact me if things dont go well.
  11. Hi there the clutch has been one of the few things that has not broken, I have heard about clutch problems though.
  12. Hello there, My name is Ian Tooth. I run Fox Earth Tree Services. I purchased a R28 Stumpgrinder from Redwoods some time ago. I have had nothing but trouble from this machine. Its brilliant when it works but most of the time its unreliable!! I would be very interested to hear from anyone else who owns a R28 and has had experienced problems. Please comment.
