We have a U1200 with the original springs. I know Atkinson do a heavy duty replacement. Has anyone fitted these and has it made much difference. We carry our processor around a fair bit and she sits down a fair way before it gets airborne!
Many thanks

Have you spoke to crane company you are useing to find out what they need.
they have pretty much just left me to sort it. Said it will be a 50ton crane 3 meters wide and thats about it. They have mentioned trackway. I always thought it would be something crane companies could do in house.

have the crane company not got boards? quinto charge us 50quid for all there ply wood sheets and plastic load spreading sheets, we turned up with the truck and trailer the loaded it with a forklift and away we went.
Quintos have said they cant provide anything only the feet pads. I am also still waiting for the quote from 3 weeks ago.

I have a job with a 50ton crane coming up. The crane needs to sit half on grass and half on a private tarmac driveway. I need approximately 30m for a straight drive in and out. Would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions. We can transport and lay the mats if this is an option anywhere.
Cheers

how much is the radio set?

we had a td4 commercial on a 02 plate got upto 180k miles. would defiantly recomend. Cheap and economical run about.

cheers for all your input chaps. The cost isn't so much the issue as losing the benefits of having implements covered. We will just have to see how we get on.

Its not about how the vehicle is registered, its about what you are doing with it.
The mog isn't that agricultural in the eyes of the underwriters, most farms use a tractor, telehandler etc, not many pick a mog and the underwriters know that. They are risk mechanics with a spread sheet and have access to all sorts of statistics.
Your use is predominantly commercial tree surgery which is NOT agricultural so they wont give you the nice cheap (low risk) insurance because you are the same risk as anyone doing that job with a conventional set up
If you insure a tractor one of the things they ask is if you are going to haul timber on the road and if you say yes they load the policy accordingly
I appreciate this and understand the reasoning. However I can't understand how it can be so different for for me as the previous owner did the same work with it and is also a tree business. Guess its just the weird and wonderful ways of insurance!

I insured our Mog with NFU on a tractor policy. I had problems with one NFU branch so tried another and guess what no problem so suggest you do the same. They claim each office should be quoting the same price but not in my experience hence policies with different NFU offices - works for me.
I tried this as well however they weren't playing game and said if they can't do it we can't. Just seems ridiculous the mog couldn't be more ag if you tried.

So we recently purchased a unimog U1200 full ag spec registered as ag vehicle etc. When I went to insure it with NFU on a trctor policy I was told it couldn't be done due to it being used for a tree and landscaping business. This means that I have had to put it on our fleet policy which is fine but is more expensive and you lose all the benefits for implements etc.
How does everyone else get around this. The previous owner did the same job pretty much and he had it insured on a tractor policy. Im trying to insure it through the same insurer and they still wont do it.
Can anyone recommend another insurer for this. I don't really want to move from NFU but can see it causing issues on the fleet policy. The mog will do a bit of ag work from time to time and I also move ag kit about for others which wouldnt be insured through the fleet policy.
Cheers

We have GRP sides. Heavy but hard wearing and look tidy. As someone else surggested I think the cheapest way is to buy any old box body and cut sheets from it.

We give brochures out for every quote. It's a 16-page, A5, full colour, 100% recycled paper version of the website. Loads of pictures, reviews and short articles about trees and buildings, trees and neighbours etc. It makes quoting a lot easier because it means you can charge more than anyone else and still get the job nearly every time. It gives the customer so much proof you'll do a great job, they're happy to pay more for that certainty. Cost 50p each. I'd recommend them to anyone wanting to charge more for jobs. Turns a £600 job into one for £800. Well worth 50p.
Where do you get yours printed? Seems a very good price.

Never replaced them on mine. I would happily buy another.

Even if you are matching the speed limit as soon as people see a tractor there only aim is to overtake you.

Just put them on a sheet. Ok you will need to chuck a few out but you can pull a fair few out if your feeling strong.

All depends how it is maintained our 520+ has just clocked 1000hrs and is still running as good as new. It is greased probably to often and we recently changed the bushed and pins in the boom and headstock. It's also stored inside over night and is washed and even gets a bit of polished fairly regularly. I wouldn't expect to lose to much on it in the 3 years we have had it.

Price isn't everything and a lot of people appreciate that and are happy to pay more for a good service.

I got some from a Timberwolf dealer which had Allen heads. Chaps at Timberwolf said it should have had the torx ones in. Can't see what difference it makes really. Never had a problem with the torx heads though just make sure the heads are nice a clean and give the bit a bit of a tap in.

I have used a similar attachment on our avant powered directly off the avant. I personally think a power harrow with stone burier does a better job. They are awkward in smaller areas and you end up with a lot of stones etc to find a home for. A power horrow leaves most of it underneath.

We have never had any major problems with domestic. Commercials are a regular problem. I find the worst is property management companies that will invoice their client for your work first wait for them to pay and then pay you 2 weeks later. In the past we have waited months. Becomes difficult with landscaping work as you can be waiting on tens of thousands after materials. Our invoice system enables you to automatically send reminders. If you send them one everyday they soon get pissed off and pay up.

Navara D40 long way down here. Great truck, not great for towing or loading up but I think it just needs some heavy duty leaf springs. So handy being able to fold up the back seats and is a very comfortable truck.
