I'd be very interested in how people are getting on with the Notch Talon leg mount! Anyone else use one?

As mentioned in one of my earlier contributions i have one and i'm a big fan. Frees up valuable space on my T.M which is always good. I always climb with my Zubat, i'm a big believer in a handsaw. I haven't tried the Sawpod but the principle is the same.

Just interested as we came up with the Sawpod back in 2005 and have been selling it worldwide ever since! Just would like to know how it compares!! Treestuff have been selling the Sawpod since 2011 - so we were a bit surprised when the Notch came out to say the least!! @Mark Bolam !!!!!!

  2. I have 2 both about 15 years old, (I don't use then for tree work any more) a red one and a white one... The metal brackets to fit the ear defenders on were a bit of a mare but they certainly outlasted the modern stuff! The red one is like new....

I am not going to the arb show however...

I'll ask the chap if he's still looking!! Cheers Ben

  3. Been working with a few chaps from the Oil Rigs who swear by the discontinued Petzl Ecrin Helmet (they particularly like Green) anyone got one they want to sell? I have a poor chap who got his seized at customs and is inconsolable! I'll be at the Arb show at the weekend...happy to give buy at a reasonable price? Find me in the Treekit tent!:thumbup1:

  4. Ah, and what exactly is the "Ropepod"?

It's a Sidewinder with modifications! We have the go ahead from Paul Cox to make our own version, at the moment we bring them in from the States, but plans are afoot to make our own version (it takes time, though) We have a prototype (some may have seen it at the Arb show) but it will be a while before we have a production model! Watch this space. Check out this video for more info!

  5. Likewise. Just a lot of surfing and roaming around. Didn't end up getting to Sumatra but definitely looking forward to being there at some point :001_smile:

The Orangutan/Sawpod vests look good, do you know if they will be available over here?

    Keep up the good work.

I could do some of the Sawpod vests if people are interested!! drop us an email [email protected]

  6. I purchased one and to be honest it's ****! I have tried everything to get it to work properly, there's even a YouTube video that shows you how to set it and get it working to a fashion. The fact is that body is too small for that amout of rope (15ft). The spring is also far too week. It's build quality is also poor and made of cheap materials. From pretty much having to disassemble and rebuild the hole thing from the word go that's just a joke...I even went as far as trying 8mm rope yet it still gets jammed and does not retract properly....its just rubbish. I'm sorry but it's a nice idea but they should of spent a bit more time perfecting it. For what it's worth when I need a longer flip line I will just use the other end of my rope and when I don't need the extra length I will be safer on a steal core!! I hope this helps anyone else pissing their money away.

Did you get it from us? If so, send it back....

  7. This may have been covered on another thread but I'm looking for ideas on how to attach the silky to harness incase of dropping? I've seen someone using a retractable dog lead...which isn't a bad idea but a bit bulky

Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

Thousands around the globe can't be wrong....the Sawpod has many followers! Try it, you never know, you might like it!!

  8. Positioner is only for 11-13mm rope though :confused1:

We seem to have two threads about this!! As I said on the other - "I use the Art Positioner and it works brilliantly...I couldn't get on with the Trango Cinch that is recommended...but lots of the boys do!!"

  9. What happens when the rope is knackered tony? Can you replace it easily?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Arbtalk mobile app

Not a problem, I've taken mine apart to remove the ratchet anyway.....it's all do-able!

  10. I seem to remember I think mine came with about 8' of 10mm beeline and that fills it. I could be wrong though. It doesn't sound like that much when I think about it. I have just taken mine off last night.

    15ft of rope
