I don't think they trust him, they have sent another agent to keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn't get distracted by some unguarded rations and forget his mission.

Anything built in the last 50 years or so will have insulation in it. Sacramento is only about 90 miles from me and is quite hot in the summer. My house was built in 1906 and has no insulation in most of the walls. The west wall is partially exposed to the afternoon sun and those exposed portions of the inside wall are hot to the touch on a summer afternoon. You can squirt the wall with a water hose in the back yard and watch steam come off the wall. I have some crepe myrtles growing there but they have a few more years before they will cover everything. Our swimming pool is on the west side of the house so there isn't room for any large trees there.

And if you like me are thinking "I wonder what's going on under the hood of that truck while all this lame tree work is going on". Here you go.

Things are kind of slow here so I decided to do a mechanic project I've been needing to do for 6 months or so. About a year ago I changed the motor in my forestry truck from an 8.2 liter Detroit (which was leaking exhaust into the coolant) to a 10.4 liter Caterpillar 3208. I finished it up in April of last year I think but there wasn't room for a belt driven fan on the front of the motor so I put in electric fans. These were inadaquate to keep the motor from overheating. So I cut out the supports in front of the radiator and moved it forward and latched it down, replumbed things and put in a belt driven fan drive assembly that I bought at a used truck parts place. Here is a video of it running when everything is finished.

My daughter is coming to London the end of next month. She has a college friend who is studying abroad there and she will be visiting her. There is also this guy she likes in London whom she met in San Francisco. I told her that if he tried anything that my British tree buddies would be more than glad to kick his ass.

I can see why having fires to burn garden waste in california will be frowned upon
Our air quality sucks most of the time.

I can see why it would be tempting to burn them. They look like they would burn really well.
Do you somtimes find animals and nasty insects in the Palms?
Yeah, usually when they have a large beard like these there is some pigeons in them. I have run into rats twice. There was nothing in these that I could see. Yes, they burn really fast, the whole pile would probably go up in 10 minutes or less.

I put them in my dump trailer and will take them to the dump like they are (actually they are still sitting in there). I have chipped them before and almost always have a plug up. Plus, it dulls the knives really fast. I have a Vermeer 1250 which I understand is not very good for chipping palm fronds. Some of the other style chippers may be better. There is a guy at the Treehouse from Hawaii who chips a lot of palm stuff, so it can be done.
edit: I'm always tempted to burn them because it wouldn't cost me anything; however, if I get caught it will be a fine of several hundred dollars. So I will take them to the dump and pay $9 to get rid of them.

Sorry about that. I almost decided to not work that day but decided what the hell. It turned out to be fine, but it was a little wet. We are considered semi-arid. It rains about 12 inches a year here.

These aren't tree work pictures but I did a welding project lately. They are all tired of hearing about it in the Treehouse so I thought I would start bothering you guys. I converted my dump trailer from a bumper pull to a gooseneck hitch. I didn't think to take a picture of the trailer before I started. The first picture is in my "shop" starting to build the first leg of the gooseneck, next I took it over to my cousin's to turn it over and weld on the underside, then a couple of pictures of the finished product minus the paint and wiring and my son cutting some channel iron.

That is a nice picture.
