I have a husky 262xp and it is leaking fuel from the filler screw cap. I have replaced the cap but the problem is still there. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Thanks David

I will almost bet my hat its not coming from the filler cap but actually from the fuel line where it passes out through the fuel tank- just solved exactly the same problem on my 254XP- I thought it was the filler cap but the fuel just trickled down that way from the fuel line.

The fuel line is in good condition. Wiped the plastic around the fuel cap down and I can see the fuel coming out quite quickly when the saw is sitting upright and doesn't leak on it side. It also seems air is being pushed out through the seal of the cap, would this have anything to cause the fuel leak? My only thought is there is something to do with the fuel tank vent?

You need the newer fuel cap they sel them on flebay they have a green seal not just an o ring also the fuel pipe leaks on all of them and the vent blocks but normally this makes them run lean and starve the fuel Apart from that top saw o run them on the rich side just fore-stroking not screaming as they are prone to overheating iv got three 262 and three 254 fantastic saws if tuned right
