Recommended Posts

We have an opening for a part time, self employed tree surgeon (max three days a week; job share available). We are a personal, professional company based in Stoke Newington, London, with consistently good feedback from customers. Owner Luke Geddes currently schedules the physical tree jobs for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays although there may be some flexibility in this to suit the right candidate(s). Pay is fixed per day and will be agreed with the successful candidate(s) in line with qualifications, skills, and experience.

Ideally, candidates will:

Have a love of and respect for trees and climbing them.

Have all relevant chainsaw qualifications including using a chainsaw from a rope and harness and current aerial rescue and first aid.

Have a full, LOLER certified climbing kit, including cambium saver.

Have an understanding of the fundamentals of pruning cuts and why correct placement is so important for tree health.

Have both intelligence and common sense.

Be physically fit and strong. Non smokers preferred.

Be a fast learner, able both to follow instructions and to act on own initiative.

Be reliable, and punctual.

Have an excellent work ethic, including taking pride in consistently working hard in a focused and efficient manner. You will have respect for safety, equipment, colleagues, and customers and their property. You will also have an eye for detail, and a positive, proactive approach towards getting the job done be that in the tree, spending all day on the ground, or sharpening a chainsaw when needed.

Identify with our company ethos. See Tree Surgeon North London - LG trees - Stoke Newington .

Beneficial but not essential:

At least six months’ experience working with chainsaws for a tree surgery company, preferably as a climber. If you lack experience but show potential to become a top climber we will train you as quickly as we can on the job to get you up to speed.

Experience of technical tree work, including use of lowering equipment.

Certified Arborist qualification or equivalent.

Gardening and landscaping experience.

Driving license category C1 allowing driving of 3.5 tonne vans, with experience.

If you think this might be you please email your CV with contact details for two references, chainsaw qualifications and driving license if appropriate to [email protected] explaining what makes you the best candidate for the job. Due to limited administrative capacity unfortunately we will not be able to respond to candidates who are not selected for interview.
