Holidays, time off and notice periods for PAYE employed people

Obviously with this unfair treatment could occur if one person has time off at short notice and not another.

It's not unfair to operate a discretionary policy. When asked for time off on short notice you grant the time off if it suits you, and not if it doesn't. Provided the criteria for deciding when it suits you doesn't change, then you have been both fair and flexible.

If the work schedule allows it - off they go.

If the work schedule doesn't allow it - its a matter of WHY .

If its really important (open to interpretation) then they must be allowed to go and the work can be re-scheduled or you get someone else in.

 

We should schedule the work to allow for a percentage of absence.
