Nice shots, a random find or out on inspection?.

I've driven past it a few times recently and when I noticed the water droplets I finally decided to stop and get a few snaps.

Do you think there is much hope for this species to be able to withstand this type of decay, or should I be politely informing the owners to consider a replacement? Its only a small tree (5m approx.) but plenty of targets with a highway on one side and a car park the other.

Sorbus is fairly similar to Malus in my experience.

This decay progressed fairly rapidly (perhaps 4/5 years after the branch tear)

Reduction of this Malus in its orchard setting would have kept it going as a viable tree in its context

but not so sure a roadside Sorbus would look so good being reduced in its setting.
