You know the odd hard tooth that the file won't bite? Well, I found a solution - a cheap Lidl diamond rod sharpener: about the same diameter as the 4mm Stihl file, I was using the flat edge on pico chain to bust through the hardened layer this afternoon. Worked a treat, no more forcing files. Going to by a few in different diameters.

 

(this is not the one I have, a €3.99 job from Lidl, but looks much the same)
