tree extraction from forests where vehicles cant get

Recommended Posts

I fell on bankside sites primarily (otherwise the harvester would usually do the job). It is standard to fell them & then winch them to a place where the harvester can process them (if cost effective). Dependent on the form & size, I might dress them off or leave them whole.

The real nightmare is having to winch downhill, as there is no greater joy than hauling a winch cable up a steep slope :)

Thats when u try to rig up a high lead type system, so 1 of the drums can pull the winch cable back up the hill. Saves u walking down with every load and dragging the heavy rope back up.

Been there done that, horrible job. And if so steep a harvester cannae get up not easy walking up it
