Kindling/log machine

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and am seeking advice. I was going to buy a splitta 360 to do log and kindling but have seen a problem. I have tonnes of large diameter softwood so need to split them first so they'll fit into the 360. Also I still need to chainsaw into rings before inserting them into the 360. Finally the 360 doesn't like knotty timber for kindling, it comes out untidy, not sure about log. Can anyone recommend a processor to cut rings and split (possibly some knotty) as one machine, and also a good kindling machine. I don't have 3 phase only mains and PTO power. The 360 with input conveyer and output shoot is £15,000 VAT included. Looking to spend around the same or slightly less. many thanks Andy.

Did you want a machine that can do wood and kindling in one or two machines?

The best firewood processor for that price is the tajfun 400 (to me). That will take 40cm logs but the downside with it is that the splitter has a permanent back plate so if you want to cut rings you would have to lift them out of the chamber.

Maybe you could make a splitter that will split small enough for kindling if you're cutting softwood, it does have a 15ton splitter.

Hi as with all machines for mechanised log or kindling you only get out what you put in,rough in rough out.

I use a palax 100s as you can take the splitting axes out easily and just cut rings up to 40cm diametre, this is what I do ,I buy good 16foot softwood logs

which tend to be knott free rig them up into 8" rings then feed them through

the splitta 360 and this produces lovely kindling.

The palax is a seriuos piece of kit and will cut and split the knottiest stuff and quick to with the optimi hydraulic length system.Try Caledonian for a second hand one you should get some change from your budget as well.

Hope some of this helps Chris.
