Bad Crash London to Brighton bike ride.

I was part of a team helping out my mates yesterday as the driver to get them back from doing the London to Brighton bike ride for The British Heart foundation. My years of doing it are over, so I'm now the man with the Vans.

7 of them set off, they all got split up as usual. Only 6 finished.

One of them the strongest rider in the group, had a pedestrian step out in front of him (in a dedicated bike lane) 1/2 mile from the finish. The pedestrian walked away. My mate landed on his chin, and got carted off in an ambulance. Result, his face is a mess and the surgeons were looking at him last night and sewing him back together, also a fractured vertebrae in his neck and is now in a brace.

What was supposed to be a fun day and a few beers at the finish to celebrate, turned into a bit of a nightmare not knowing what hospital he was in or how bad he was. We only found out by luck that he had the accident in the first place as I rang his mobile to see where he was and the paramedics in the ambulance answered his phone and informed us.

Now I've never asked for any charity from any forum before, but I'd like to try and hit our target on the just given page set up for the team. If you have a spare few quid I'd appreciate any help we can get.

Thanks in advance.

Justin Jones.
