I have been asked about carving a Scots Pine stump. What is it like for carving and how best do I treat it after ... tons of oil ??? I have no experience of scots pine at all so any advice will be gratefully received.

Nice and easy to carve if your doing any sanding it tends to clog up pads quickly. Can sap up fairly quickly i would just explain that to the client but I would also give it lots of coats of decking oil within 15mins of each coat until it doesn't absorb anymore then same again after 24hrs if necessary. In my experience and I maybe wrong doing it this way but it builds a nice flexible shine like finish that lasts a longtime. I use Liberon clear decking oil its a bit thicker than most and I brush it on.
