Hi

What is the right time of year to work on a yew tree?

varying times indicated on RHS and garden forums, so I was hoping someone might have some experience and suggestions on here.

Many Thanks.

I would think that it wouldnt be major, as its quite condensed without any limbs visible, being reasonably small from memory, perhaps even hedge cutting and light pruning with a silky to keep it tidy and evenly shaped

I have found yew trees react in a "sulky" fashion to heavy pruning year round. If it's a hedge you're go to go, if it's pruning be sure to come back to strong live growth.

Just my thoughts others may differ.

Perhaps, what I sort of mean is they'll sit there for years doing nothing afterwards, rather than "throwing out" lots of regrowth in a enthusiastic and exuberant manner.

Cheers,

I get you.

Yes RHS website described the very slow growth.

thats helpful to know.
