Hi was wondering if any one could tell me what this is and if it has any relation to the tree roots I know about about bracket fungi but yet to learn about fungi on the ground and affects on tree roots thanks ImageUploadedByArbtalk1414346419.024936.jpg.869ba480c25870e2f507347d5777ce4e.jpg

Found just underneath a silver birch tree near to the base

Did it have gills or pores? Possibly one the boletes, if so, mycorhizal.

Few fungi on the ground can affect tree stability as a general rule...
