Husqvarna xp550 gassing up

It's a known pain with 550s. Usual trick for a hot start is:

1) Do not hit the decompress under any circumstances when hot

2) Try to pull it over without touching anything else. If it starts, cut.

3) If it doesn't start, one or two (max!) pulls with it on choke

4) Choke off, it starts no probs, get cutting

The decompress is what kills it, in my experience. Aspen helps a lot, too - far less vapour locking.

It doesn't seem to be gassing up so much now, far better than it was, but my lad was still having slight problems with it.

I never use the decompression button. I'm finding it won't fire on or off choke for a good few pulls, then it fires on choke, choke to half, won't fire, choke off, won't fire, back on choke, fires, off choke, won't fire....rinse and repeat. I've been forced on occasions to hold the trigger down and then pull stating and that seems to do the trick, but it just ain't right. Going to try it on a few more hot hard days and if it continues then it's going back again.

......never had this issue with the countless stihls I've owned/used in twenty two years of being a tree surgeon !!
