White poplar suckered growth from roots

Hi all, I have been asked by a a regular customer to remove a very large white poplar. The reason being because there is a huge amount of suckered growth from the root system as far as 30m away. It is coming up in the lawn, borders and gravel drive. I have said that we would happily remove the tree but am sure this will just promote vigour in the suckered growth. I would welcome any advice on this. Is there anything that can be done prior to removal to prevent the growth from the roots system.

Poison straight after felling, I've only ever done the main stem.

Glyphosate always works for me. Drill holes and apply. Cover the stump for a few weeks in case of rain, pets etc.

Ecoplugs, as I understand it are glyphosate in slow release form, sounds like a good idea.
