i have been given the rights to coppice a hazel wood. now started doing a bit of work but have found that a lot of the hazel is very dry to the stage that on smaller stuff it just breaks, its not dead as it has katkins on it

next to wood is a fir plantation what fir do not know.

would this take all the moisture out that the hazel is struggling to get enought to grow properly.

shame as its ideal but being so dry its a struggle to find the materials i want that are ok. if it is coppiced and allowed to regrow would the new stuff be better or is it a lost case and find elswere to coppice
