Without knowing the tree, at 150 yrs old, I might have thought it was worth keeping....perhaps it was not deemed as having much useful life expectancy....seems to have upset those hippy dippy tree lovers tho' !

Sure you'd be smiling mate!! Heard about some daft woman who cut down a 100 year old magnolia and got fined....shamed it was only £5k - penal servitude is too good for these people
