Brilliant. Thanks for all the advice! I've saved the biggest straightest piece for tomorrow. I want to cut it into actual boards, if you catch my drift? Rather than through and through, I've seen a vid where they cut the top cut then the bottom cut, then a new top cut to create 3 flat sides!! Then through and through, creating boards. God knows how you make it square! I'll show you how it went tomorrow! Cheers again

You are better off cutting through and through than square edging them. Square edging limits your customer's interest and you can end up cutting good timber away, leaving less to work with when you have drying defects to contend with. If you are wanting to do any extra cutting, cutting the heart out is always advantageous, though time consuming with a chainsaw mill. You really need a vertical (mini) mill to do it.

Last of my session!! Small piece of yew looks great. Pics don't really show the colours. I know the stacking is shoddy, running out of time and light. Busy for 3 weeks solid now. Gutted. Can't mill again till April!
